Why is my Torags hated so much?

I'm normally not irritated when people try to criticize me for wearing Torags, but lately people have been giving me an unusually hard time about it. I have no proof that the dislike for Torags in Runescape has increased in the majority of players, but to me, it seems like it has. Their comments are always half wit, but I get them so often now it's starting to get irritating.

So, unfortunately I've committed a few hours of brain time trying to figure out "why"? Why are players so biased against this armor when it looks great and (correct me with proof if I'm wrong) has the best defense stats for barrows? Is it because it's so cheap and yet so good especially when mixed and matched that in the opinion of other players using Torags is just a case of gross "noobish" indulgence? As opposed to toiling away making millions for more expensive sets and spending a few hours learning how to work with and around the relative set effect; I notice people will usually buy several Barrows sets to fit different situations instead of buying Torags, which is the best all around melee set I think.

Or is it just an old, nurtured hatred for 'tanks', and Torags because of the high defense stats is seen as 'tank armor'? Most people who make a negative comment about Torags are wearing a torso and dragon legs, obviously favoring strength boosts over increased defense, thinking anyone who favors different tactics is a noob. I've also noticed that the popularity of fighter torsos has exploded both as training and PK armor, probably leading to an increased stigma against anything with decent defense bonuses. I think it's both this way of thinking and the above suggestion combined.

Any thoughts? Or does this not even seem like a problem to most of you?

You get idiots with Strength Amulets, Fighter Torsos, Bandos Tassets and what not trying to belittle you because you have a high defence bonus instead of maxing out your strength.

Strength is everything to those idiots.

I've never had a problem when I was wearing it and I don't see why you shouldn't wear it.
I wear a fightertorso with dragon legs/torags/guthans legs depending on my slayer task and it seems to work well for me. I like my fighter torso for that little strength bonus over the defence bonus since my defence is pretty high anyway and I don't take that much damage.
I switch my fighter torso for a torags chest on tasks like kalphites where I need that extra defensive bonus. Other than that the extra bonus just isn't really needed.

When I had it, I had no problem with it man. Back in the time it was worth way more (Let's say 3m). I believe torag is a pretty good armor, But what annoys me is; When people with torag think they are the greatest player ever because they have torag armor. Yeaaaaaaaaaaa riteeeeeeee, now move on man. LOLOLOLOLOLOL YEA K BUT THORAGES IS BEST ARMOR 4 DEFF AND DEF > STR LOLOLOLOL!!!!!11@@@

Meh, I'd rather hit 2+ dmg, than having a few 20+ def bonus

An idea set-up imo would be;
Helm of neit
Fighter torso
Fury/glory (if you cant afford fury)
Torag platelegs/Dragon legs/Dragon skirt (Depending how much do you want to spend

)
Barrow gloves
Dragon boots
Skillcapre/fire cape/obby cape/ legend cape
Rune defender/Rune berserker Shield/*insert good shield here*
Godsword/whip/sara sword/dragon scimmy
Wealth/berserker ring

In thoses cases, You get both str and def bonus

But dont let other retarded of life call you a noob cuz you have torag. There is a plenty of players who would like to have it, Be proud to have full torag

Never had anyone comment on it when I'm wearing it, which is now and again. Had people call me a noob for wearing Prosalyte armour.

Put simply, best armour in the game for defence stats. If anyone is going to criticise you for wearing good defence armour then they likely also criticise people using Dragonfire shields rather than rune defenders.

Really, what's it matter what you wear!

it's simple every noobs dream is to get 99 str so they prefere str bonus over anything and think that def is for noobs. i get bugged meself alot for using ranged and having high def coz just it's not everyday **** ppl do, i mean bigest part of rs is just plainly training str.

I guess hiting high is priority for all these ppl that call someone having good def either wearing good def armour noobs just becouse they prefere staying longer then hiting higher.

About torags itself well ppl think it's crap coz of it's set effect no one cares if it has good def bonus all just brag that it has crap set effect.

Yes guthans or veracks are more usefull but were? Depsite monster hunting it's pointless yet ppl spend milions to get it and forget that there is armour more suitable for trianing purpouses.

I've seen a few people insulted for Torag's ... it was pretty stupid imo, people can wear what they want no matter the defense stats or appearance anyway. I guess they just think "oh look cheap armor that nub lol" -.-

I get a lot of people commenting how I should get bandos instead of full dragon, but I haven't been collecting dragon items for two years so I could sell it all and get a bunch of armor that's going down in price anyway. I haven't killed something other than a unicorn or tree spirit in a few months either, so no need for it.

um torags isnt nooby at all...i mean ..just as long as your not using hammers..

but the real noobs are the people who have like rune armor..and use torag hammers and they think they are so cool

I used to have torags and loved it. that was when I was poor and couldnt afford the repairs though.

I use the nezzy torso d legs combo with my BGS and I dont think defence bonuses matter so much, more the actual stats of a player. Ill be fighting someone with horrible armor but high defense and can barely hit them. Against someone with "tank armor" (v helm torag/dharok plate v skirt dfs) but 75 defense, the bvare minimum for that setup I can hit 40+ like no tommorow.

What Im trying to get at is that bonuses dont seem to matter so much, just the base stat.

Yeah I used torags from time to time, an extra 1 damage every couple of hits isn't going to help as much as an extra 100 armour on each stat. People dislike it because; 1) it's set effect is crap, 2) it's cheap and good armour, therefore automatically "nooby" and 3) it looks terrible.

Although 3) is really just my opinion.

i think torag's leg and helm is great. helm i use for avsies good range def bonus. i use torag leg for minigames such as castle war etc. i rather torag leg then bandos tasset's but sometimes with slay assignment i dont like using barrow so instead i use my tasset's. anyway torag is good forst proper good armour i got in this game
