I like random, it balances the economy with a VARIETY of slayer drops, as opposed to just irons and dags being packed all the time.

I think the "restrict task" option that was added with smoking kills was a good compromise

Wildy we do have a choice on what slayer tasks we get.
Ever heard of the quest "smoking kills"?
As a reward for this quest you can cancel a task for 30 points or you have the option of never having it assigned to you again for 100 points.

Oh that's pretty cool, I thought you could only change it by talking to the slayer master in burthope.

That would make things way too easy.

People would just assign themselves Abyssal Demons or something all the time.

Ya. The whole point point of slayer would be gone if tasks weren't at least random (with the exception of blocking up to 3 tasks after Smoking Kills).

No - otherwise you'd only get people doing Abby Demons or similar good drop monsters.

I suppose limiting each task to once a week, or maybe once a day (because some people play enough to go through all of them in less than a week) wouldn't be a bad idea.

Once per day is good, but what if someone got a good task?

I think it'd be better if you could get a certain monster any number of times a day but not in a row.

Example:
    You've been assigned Bloodvelds!
    You've been assigned Steel Dragons!
    You've been assigned Bloodvelds!
    You've been assigned Kurask!
    You've been assigned Bloodvelds!

That way you could still get a good task multiple times but would at least have some variety if your Slayer Master was stuck on Iron Dragons.

Example:
    You've been assigned Iron Dragons!
    You've been assigned Steel Dragons!
    You've been assigned Iron Dragons!
    You've been assigned Bronze Dragons!
    You've been assigned Iron Dragons!
Eh, it helps :P

Idea

what if they divided the slayer monsters into groups of 3-4 simmilar tasks (aka iron bronze mith and steel dragons)

then, you would get a group assigned, and you would pick FROM THAT GROUP to get some variety, but still random. Then the number could be determined the usual way, but altered depending on what monster you chose. (you wouldnt want 150 mith dragons to kill)

I think the current slayer method is fine as it is. Even implementing your idea would cause slayer to become far too easy.

You are training under a "Master". Why do you think you know anything young grasshopper?

Suck it up and take the task. If you have enough points, bribe them to never again assign you that specific monster.

You gotta earn your way up.

If Slayer wasn't random, I probably wouldn't be nearly as high as I am currently. Variety allows higher-leveled slayers to stay interested. If it were one thing again and again, it'd literally be camping (which is quite boring in my opinion).
