Google combines Firefox with WebKit to create a new open source browser. I'm testing it now, and everything is going quite smoothly.
Even the importing from Firefox went without a hitch, and it very nice job with the integration of my previous bookmarks/settings.

So far, bravo Google.

Seems like a great browser so far. I think google did a good job, and because it is going to be open soruce, there will eventually be addons for it, similar to firefox. They did boast about it being faster then other browsers, and so far it does seem to load pages a little faster then firefox did, atleast for me.

I have one question about it: Can a limited XP User download it for himself and not have to go on admin for it?

Here are responses about Chrome from a few ppl.

Me: (asking admin/dad) Hey dad, can we get Google Chrome, a great featured web browser?
Dad: Uhhh..erm... {starts a new topic with the other people around}
Mom: I've heard about Google Chrome on the radio
Brother1: I'm happy with Firefox. (Me: Getting another browser does not make Firefox disappear.... noob.)
Brother2: {was not in the room}

So... yeah... I want it, admin just ignored me, my mom is not much of a technical person, and my brother doesn't underestand web browsers....
I need that question up above answered please =)

I don't know Kirby. I don't remember authorizing anything when I installed, but I wasn't trying to remember either. Just download the 400kb file and let it download the installer.. Worse thing that could happen is it not installing.

Still working well, though I've been missing a few features I've been used to in Firefox. I can't see Chrome replacing Firefox by any means, but for general browsing around, it's not too bad.

Tried it all day, its ok but nothing for me to just quit using firefox over. I dont really like how the bookmarks are set up and it seems to lag for me.

I read about something to do with a google OS a while back. After a quick search I found this, which is a little less in depth than the one I read but still covers the basic idea. http://www.osnews.com/story/10096

Where have you been looking? There are professional reviews everywhere...

Another great thing about Chrome...If a tab crashes, it won't crash the browser. Just the single tab will go away, not the whole browser.

Just try it and decide for yourself.

Nope, and definitely not this early. There's no plug-ins, and no support on sites that require specific browsers, such as ABC. I've been using it quite a bit, but until I get a few plugins, and preferably a few features are fixed/added, I don't think it could ever come close to replacing Firefox.

I'd also expect Mozilla to start adding some of the features in a later release of Firefox. As of now the features I'd be looking for aren't in Minefield (for some reason Mozilla named Firefox 3.1 beta pre-release 'Minefield').

In short, don't switch. Use for general browsing, but it's not as customizable as Firefox (at least not yet!).

I got it. It installed as easy as clicking that download button. I think I'll stick with it for anything that isn't RS because I can't play. It's really fast, that's why I like it.

If you use Java 1.6.0_10 release candidate, it works. Well, not for me, but that's at my end somehow. It does load, so it should work.

Plus, the javascript is wicked fast, not sure if there's a difference while playing though. Not exactly the same thing, but it's quite a light-weight browser.
