Good job openly insulting Buddhism, and I'm sure there's other religions with similar beliefs too. Now I get an imagery that you're some obese kid, judging with your impulsive "DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH YOUR FOOD."

Except no.

If we all swap from meat to plants, what would we do with the excess BILLIONS of cows, chickens and pigs? Cull them? Leave them be? As they are if they were just left they would keep reproducing until there were even more of them, and bearing in mind each cow puts out more methane than a car does, i think that would be fairly bad for the environment. Similarly, if they were all culled and we switched to plants, in 5-10 years, oh ****, no plants left. Idiots.

Whilst the animal populations may well have been expanded to match our feeding desires, it would be impossible to get rid of them all now if we all turned vegetarian without wipespread "genocide" of them, which i'm guessing you veggies would find unethical or something else ridiculous.

NO. NO NO 100 TIMES NO.

What gives us and other animals a mind is our brains. A massive center of neurones and synapses. What gives us a "higher" brain, one more advanced than other brains, is the size of our cerebral cortex, giving us access to emotions and advanced speech patterns etc, and personality.

Plants do not have a brain. They do not even have a nervous system. They operate almost purely by water movement. I may be wrong here, but i don't think i am in saying that all of a plants movements are co-ordinated by watermovement, ie water building up in some areas creating turgid, rigid cells and moving out of other areas creating a soft-ish area, which makes a curve. Things like that.

Whilst plants are technically alive, they definately don't have minds, and they definately can't feel pain.

Eating meat is natural. Humans were meant to kill animals and eat them.

And for everyone saying bs that animals suffer too much from us, predators make the animals hurt more.

So lets just give the animals a care-free life, and store all the cows in the world away from predators!

(Get my drift)

Humans were not made to eat meat (unless you take it froma biblical passage) Human adapted over time to eat meat, our ansestors didnt have canine teeth, they had all flat, leaf eating teeth. We have adapted to be able to eat meat.

ERGO WE'VE EVOLVED TO BE ABLE TO EAT MEAT YOU **** IDIOT.

We have the teeth to cut through it, AN ENTIRE ORGAN evovled to digest it - the stomach, which has no other enzymes within aside from endo/exopeptidases, which break down protein, which is **** MEAT.

You cannot argue with evolution. We (as in Homo Sapiens) have evolved to be able to eat meat. That you're even refuting that amazes me.

I'm not a vegetarian, i love meat. I don't mind vegetarians either, unless they try and take some flimsy moral highground about animals, or they try and argue that we are not meant to eat meat. When confronted with that holier-than-thou attitude i just get angry really.

I think Maddox summed it up best when he said for every animal you don't eat, i'm going to eat 3.

The irony is, that if everyone in the world were to mysteriously become vegetarian, then demand for veg and things like quorn (pretend meat for morons) will go through the roof. That means that fields and farms once used to grow animals for meat, will start growing veg instead, meaning these animals will have to die anyway just to get space to grow the veg. And, if there was no meat left on the planet, there would be a large surge of unemployment from all sorts of places, (e.g. restaurants, supermarkets, butchers etc)

Point is, I don't mind these people who don't eat meat because they don't like the taste, but people who say that they're caring for the animals is just downright pretentious, and really quite self-righteous, because regardless of whether or not you buy it, it's still going to die, there's nothing you can do to stop it.

That doesnt make sence, if meat was replaced with more vegetables and fruits and other non-meat things, then how would restaurants and supermarkets go out of business? They would just sell other thing vegetarian. If what you say is true, then how come vegan and vegetarian restaurants and supermarkets like Wild Oats (which is mostly vegan foods) are still thriving?

Because they won't have the massive net loss of having to throw out all things with meat in. You know, Fanta and Smarties are both "unsuitable for vegetarians", it's not just raw meat that you lot don't touch. I would say, balls out of the basket on this one, that roughly 50% of things sold in supermarkets are supposedly "unsuitable for vegetarians".

I think eating meat is something of the past.
I mean people know how to get the right nutrition without eating dead animals.
That's just my opinion.
I'm a real animal lover and I can't stand to think that to satisfy my taste buds I need to support the mass murder of defenseless animals.
I think if more people saw what happens in a factory farm, more people would become vegetarian.

All my friends and family eat meat, and I respect their decision like they respect mine. I'm not one to force my views on other people.

But yeah my choice is to be vegetarian. Note my username, 'Veggie Eater' :D

What I really have a problem with is the factory farms animals 'live' in until they are slaughtered. It's really really disgusting, cramped, cruel, and unnecessary.

I mean I still don't think you should take another animals life for your own, but I don't mind hunting as much. I mean at least then it's natural. The animal was in the wild, the hunter took it down.

Factory Farms, Slaughter houses = cruel and un-natural

hunting = natural, painless death

But if you think about it, hunting is becoming so stupid now a days anyway. They have all this equipment and men just sit out in their chairs waiting for an animal to come by and just take it down instantly. Most people don't stalk the animals anymore or work for it. People have become so lazy.

But anyway
I probably couldn't kill another animal myself if I was out in the wild. Maybe if I got desperate, I don't know. I'd probably chicken out. I'd probably just eat berries and stuff, I'm not really sure. No one really knows what they'd do in that kind of situation until it happens.
