i feel sorry for the boy, but its a game, accidents happen. This is another case of crazy law suites. How could the bat company be at fault for this boys brains injury. What is your opinion on this story. Is the law suit right? Or is this crazy?

Completely insane.

Quote:
his brain was deprived of oxygen for 15 to 20 minutes, according to his doctors.

Lies. Between 6 to 9 minutes a human would be a vegetable with such oxygen deprivation, and dead after 10.

Still stupid, how is it the bat makers fault that this guy decided to catch the ball with his head not the glove he had on? He's a moron if you ask me.

 I guess people are that bad...one day there will probably be a lawsuit about someone tripping off the sidewalk and breaking their leg and suing the town for not putting notice of the drop...

People also sue because they like to blame others for their own problems, exposing their complete insecurity and lack of responsibility for their own actions.

"This coffee is HOT? It doesn't say so!!! And due to my own stupidity, I spilled it on my lap! I am SUING McDonald's for not telling me it was hot!" (True Case)

There was absolutely no wrongdoing on the manufacturer. The bat is a good god damned bat, and so it was used. By god it be the makers fault, rather than the boy who hit it? Who was just playing an innocent sport played by kids for generations?

The sue-happy world today is a clear expression of society's stupidity.

you americans will sue anybody for anything... if that happened in england the parent would go to the bat maker and hit him with the baseball bat himself.

Wow this is idiotic. It said it was safe to use with children meaning it wouldn't break in their face, or something like that.

NOT THAT THE BALL WILL NEVER HURT SOMEONE WHEN HIT BY THE BAT

I mean come on, if I was the judge in the case, and they went, "We are suing because my son was hit in the head with a ball, and the ball was hit with this bat, therefore the bat company is at fault."
I would laugh. I would straight up laugh.

I do feel sorry for the kid though :(

Yeah. But the parent really must be despearate for money, to sue for something as idiotic as that. Like Chris said, this just goes to show problems with out world right now.

Example: Right now I am typing on my Dad's laptop, half watching boxing. Seriosly, people get points by hitting each other? Sick.

People really need to lighten up, and instead of blaming the accident on a company that OBVIOSLY had nothing to do with it. really, it was no ones fault.

This is kinda another grim example, but so we go: Say some obviosly depressed kid, buys a gun and....well, you know. And when the parents find out, they sue the gun company. Now, that was apparently not the gun manufactuers fault, for they had nothing to do with it. Note: This was not a real example, it was made up for the purpose of this topic.

I might be going over board here, I don't know.

Lol, brain deprived of oxygen for 15-20 min = death, not brain damage.

Anyway, the lawsuit is simply rediculous. Welcome to the United States.

There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy.
