I am trying to get 99 fishing.(I know I'm nowhere near close right now)I just need some advice on wwhich place is better to train at. Catherby or the fishing guild?

Out of Catherby or Fishing Guild I'd recommend the guild; however, I don't recommend either comparing to other things. FIshing monkfish at Piscatoris (requires Swan Song quest) is much better, which fish as fast as lobsters but give more fishing XP than sharks, and heal 16. Or, if you're looking for speed, fly fishing trout and salmon at Shilo Village (requires Shilo Village quest), is one of the fastest, and barbarian fly fishing (need to know barbarian training) is as fast/faster and you get more than just fishing XP.

Depends, are you looking at fastest exp possible or highest cash at the end of 99?

Fastest EXP (in order of fastest to slowest):
1. Barbarian Training (FIshing) (50K+ an hour)
2. Shilo Village Fly Fishing (50K per hour approx)
3. Monkfish in Piscatoris (30-40K per hour, I get mostly 35-36K)
4. Sharks at Catherby/Fishing Guild (Unbelievably slow)

Highest cash at 99 (same order)
1. Sharks at Catherby/Fishing Guild
2. Monkfish in Piscatoris
3-4. Both Barb Training and Shilo won't get you much money. But with barbarian training you also get strength exp per fish you get.

I chose Monkfish from 75 to 99 because they are relatively fast exp and they at least get you some money. If I were you I'd consider flyfishing and barb training vs. monkfish as Willows are to Yews in Woodcutting.

Edit: Getting 99 fishing with your current stats with Monkfish, you'd get about 42M if you sell the fish RAW, and about 31-32M if you sell the fish COOKED.
But if you want to get that faster, as Warren said, fly fishing is the way to go. But you won't get any munneh :\

Well, once you have the stats, the quest takes under an hour to complete and will save you much more time than an hour.

They're right.

I got my 99 fishing off of fishing sharks and it was slow (though worth it back then), though it wasn't as slow as it is now. I believe Jagex slowed sharks to make Monks look better.

You should do Swan Song, it isn't very hard. Monkfish give 120 xp compared to the 110 of sharks or 90 of lobsters. Monkfish also sell for 300-400 lately.

If you want money with your levels definitely go with monks.
If you want speed and to lose/possibly gain a little bit of money go with fly fishing.
If you want a hybrid, not requiring any quests I suggest lobsters. (They range from 250-300 raw and 190-225 cooked.)

No matter what you do (other than dropping every single fish you get) you'll make money. Monkfish sell for ~375gp each, not too bad considering how fast they fish.

Plus, you'd probably do well listening to Warren. I mean, he does have 99 fishing :wink:

And how actually having 94 is less of an argument than having 99?!

I fished a lot of fish too
