Question says it:

- Buying the herbs, vials and seconds.
- I wouldn't really care doing guam pots if they were the cheapest... It's just that with no PKing and GE making everything weird with herblore I can't see anything that could be honestly good for training herblore =/ Any tip is accepted and greatly thanked.

The least loss per xp is tarromin + ash serum 207's

The result is untradeable, but they're the most cost efficient. Still quite lossy.

Chaos druids under Taverley drop lots of herbs and some vials.

Hill giants under Edgeville drop some herbs and limpwurt roots, the limpwurt are often left by other players.

Kill unicorns for horns, to make anti-poison.

Try and make potions which will sell.

Energy is harralander + chocolate dust. If you have access to the cooking guild or Zanaris, snaffle the choc bars as often as possible.

The tarromin + ash gives 50 xp per vial.

These are the lower herblore solutions. (edit) See you are herblore 68, super strength and super energy seem to sell best, after prayer potions.

Do you grow herbs, make your own vials, gather 2nds yourself; all money savers? Sell some of the 2nds to fund the herbs you need.

Pray pots 5 days ago were 6.4gp per experience (640k per 100k experience)... I thought those were the cheapest (never thought of the serum one). Anti-fire were 6.3gp per experience (if you have 69 herblore).

Thanks peeex, I'll keep that in mind. I'll check for the serum too.

Rodsay, thanks for trying to help but please remember that I would buy everything I need if possible in order to save some time.

Edit: I calculated and with serum it would cost me about 12M to get to 80. I'll consider it the cheapest for now, I'll calculate the other ones too later.

Sorry, didn't realise you were on 'buying only'

If you care to add me in-game, I will trade you some lower herbs at the most advantageous price to you that the trade system allows. I do this regularly with friends for herbs I no longer use but get as part of the collection from Miscellania.

Prayer is cheaper than serum. Prayer goes for about 6.5gp per experience while serums at a 7.4. You might want to consider doing prayer till 69 and switching to anti-fire. However, you can buy serum all in one go as tarromins are fairly cheap

but are anti-fires and prayer pots easy to sell back? If there is no PKing I wouldn't like to be stuck with the P pots :?

Prayer pots sell so easy. Anti-fires are always impossible to buy. That's what so great about them. However, one day the price to make them might be 5.5gp per exp and the next it might be 7...

Well, what's good about the P pots is that I can get my 2nds kind of easily IF I don't want to lose too much money. I don't know about the anti-fires though. Are anti-fires a lot more exp than P pots or not by the way?

Edit; also please tell me how you calculated the money loss, or calculate it for each potion of each kind, I will be able to make a better approximation of how much money I save by getting my own vials etc. Thank you

Price of herb + Price of 2nd ingrediant + 10gp (if you buy vials of water from store) - price of potion made
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Experience for identification of herb + Experience for making potion

the ---- means 'divided by'. To find out accurately how much it costs, try finding the exact price you buy each herb at and the 2nd ingredient as well as the price you sell the potion at.

I wouldn't bother getting your own second ingredients if you can make money faster than that makes you. If runecrafting gets you 250k an hour and collecting snape grass gets you 50k, it is much much more efficient to runecraft then buy the 2nds from the exchange.

Also, anti-fire are better because they give 158 experience (plus the experience if you I.D the herb) while prayer gives 87.5 (95 with herb)

Very good thinking, I will consider your idea as something I might most likely use.

I will keep this thread open in hope that a miraculous idea might show up, although it's quite unlikely.

Thank you all for the tips.

One huge overlooked area is the barbarian mixes. Potions in general don't sell well, unless they are super restores, p pots, or sara brews.

Buy made potions, decant them into 2 doses and just add roe or caviar.

You can also basically increase your herblore xp 150% much easier than trying to find more ingredients. For example, if you were going to make 1,000 Super Attack Potions, making them into Attack Super Mixes is faster xp than making the potions, and the ingredient (caviar) is easier to get than another 500 herbs.

1,000 Super attacks would get you 100,000 xp and cost 1,172,000

Making them into Mixes would give another 50,000xp for only 661,500

Todays prices:
Grimy Irit 1026
Vial: 97
Eye: 49
Caviar: 441

Two things though. Caviar is usually less than 400gp in the GE (it was really expensive today), and if you are bad at making 2 and 4 dose pots, try changing the settings to a one button mouse.

Roe is only 208, and anti poison is 130 in the GE, so that is very cheap xp as well. Just buying up all the potions you can and then adding roe or caviar.
