The first of April's updates seems to attract abbreviations: F2P, PvP, OMG - all of these could be used to describe Fist of Guthix, our next combat minigame. We could say that this will be a safe, single-way, Wilderness-based game available to both free players and members, but that would ignore some important details. Attack strategies, defensive tactics, well-timed escapes: Fist of Guthix will employ all of these to create a memorable combat minigame.

There is a massive range of rewards to win for playing Fist of Guthix, so we'll give you a wee teaser. The rune berserker shield, like most of Fist of Guthix's rewards, degrades with use, but it also offers you some hefty defence bonuses and a Strength boost; the battle robe set will sometimes pay for mind, chaos, death or blood runes that you use when casting a combat spell; and the Runecrafting gloves will double the experience you gain from crafting runes of the glove's type!

Talking of rewards, where could you possibly find a top hat, animal mask, adamant cane and black crossbow? It could only be the Treasure Trails, and this month will bring our next installment. Among the new weapons, clothes and hats will be some brain-twisting new clues to untangle, ranging across the medium and hard difficulties.

It is at this point in the month that the skies will darken, a fog will descend and a bloodcurdling scream will echo out. What could bring on this strange and eerie change? Ah, it must be the fourth in our Myreque quest series: Legacy of Seergaze! With no help forthcoming from Misthalin and vampyres continuing to collect their scarlet tithes, the Myreque have been calling on mercenaries to aid their cause. Meanwhile, deep in Paterdomus, Drezel has found something strange that could shed light on Morytania's gloomy past...

Not so gloomy are the graphical improvements to the Morytania entrance area and the icefiends of RuneScape. Expect Paterdomus temple and its grounds to become more grand and foreboding, and the icefiends a sight more icy and fiendish.

A nod must be given to the website updates. The Grand Exchange Database will be released this month, having had its image issues resolved, displaying graphs and statistics of Grand Exchange market prices. There's also a Summoning guaranteed content poll, the latest Players' Gallery and the Postbag from the Hedge.

I'm excited for the new PvP minigame - the rewards sound cool, although I guess I'll have to wait for more info on how it actually works until I make my final decision. I wonder if some of the new Treasure Trail rewards will be F2P (like the trimmed armor, etc). That would be awesome.

4/5

I said 4/5. Being a runecrafter and a mage I'm excited for not only the runecrafting gloves that double xp but also the battle robes. It's going to make my ice barrages a little cheaper.

Gotta say I'm not happy that these rc pouches are in a combat mini game, don't like that. Should have another way of getting them.

W000t, can't wait for the Rune Beserker sheild. It really sounds exiting, but I wish it didn't have to be repaired. I also wonder if the black c' bow will be worth it. I hope that it is better than most normal black weapons.

Can you use a Rune Crossbow? Or even a Mithril one? If you can, there's really no point to the black ones, unless you're emo and you like that stuff.

Rune-Zerker, I'm guessing it'll be level 45-ish defence to weild based on the "Berserker" in the name. Statwise, it'll probably be similar to an obsidian shield, but with slightly better defensive stats, and +1 or +2 more strength. Either way, I'm keeping my Dragonfire Sheild.

I can almost use a rune crossbow, so I guess I'm set.
I slightly belive most of these updates are for lower levels, (like 70-90) so I think it would be a bad choice to use a zerker sheild instead. But since I'm like lvl 80, I'm probally more exited than you are. :/

You don't have to give it a bad rating just because it did not mention they were going to fix something you belive is a problem.

sounds good new trail items and clues means they'll hopefully upgrade all the old scrolls as well so they match the new graphics all over again.

new runecrafting gloves sound decent tho everything from that minigame needs repair which is a downer to them. specially since it'll prolgy require more points or something from the minigame to fix them too :?

another morytania quest for the myreque sounds interesting hope it's better than the past few quests have been of late. =P~

Re: The new pvp mini game rewards.

I will be interested to see what they come up with because most things when they announce them sound good on paper then when released there is always a catch. So i will wait and see. 3/5 :)

I'm prepared. I have a level 3 clue scroll that I'm not gonna do until the next update, so I don't have to get one the first time.

I'm actually pleased that Jagex are implementing more updates for the F2P players nowadays. They used to be completely ignored, but now it's like every second update is dedicated to them or at least shared somehow. That should get more people interested in Runescape despite being F2P, at least.

Their way of apologies for removing the wilderness, I'll bet. I'm glad that they're at least taking the effort to make up for the major disappointment.

Not for me, though. Good riddance, wilderness. I can now travel through there to do my clue scrolls without having to store everything in my bank. And that diamond bracelet update really helps, too.

All in all, I give the POTENTIAL of updates a 5 / 5. Continuing a quest storyline (YES!), new treasure trail rewards (YES!), new combat-based minigame with tonnes of rewards (YES!), and even a GUARENTEED summoning poll (Oooh!). Nothing I'm not looking forward to! April will be a grand month indeed ...

Good. I like the Vampre quests. This month will be good as long as the quests they release aren't like the eyes of glouphrie.
