Anyway i pretty much like all rock. Alternative, Punk, Metal, Classic, Modern, Soft. Also R&B isnt too bad. I can't stand rap tho. Soulja Boy fails at life TBH. You mentioned Petrucci, and i love Liquid Tension Experiment, and Dream Theater. (I can play Acid Rain by LTE on drums ftw.)

But, yea i pretty much like all rock since im a drummer. lol

Tom Petty = yes
heavy metal = no for me
soulja boy = huge fail

the kind of rap I like is the underground type. leans more towards hip hop. where the music actually has a message, not just, "oh, i got money and i got hoes and cars."

and ok, if BYOB by system of a down is considered heavy metal by you guys, then thats one song that i like.

i wouldnt, i guess u would say, waste my time trying to scream at the top of my lungs. why do that if u dont like the music? id bet u wouldnt waste ur time making some rap music either.
i got great hearing, but again, i wouldnt waste my time listening to it. besides that byob song, but i havent even heard that song in ages.

to sum it all up, not a big fan (since im guessing ppl might say "ur a fan for that byob song") of heavy metal, or any forms of metal. or soulja boy, thats just plain silly. [-X

i can understand it when people say "i just dont like it" because i "just dont like" some things. but when you start saying all it is is screaming at the top of your lungs and you cant hearwhat theyre saying it ***** me off tbh. because its actually very hard to scream and make it sound good, and takes years of practise, and thees many different techniques to do it so you dont damage your throat.

and metal is a lot more than just "screaming down the mic at the top of your lungs" its actually, in some parts, very hard to play and can be quite technical. Yes, sure there is some metal thats **** easy to play and all about speed, but i dont listen to that. i listen to metal that has good harmonies/melodies and that has sophistication and meaning behind it, and that has very technical parts on the various instruments.

thats basically why i listen to underground hip hop/rap. good rhythm (spelled right :]) and the music has a meaning.

Favorite bands at the moment are: Megadeth, Children of Bodom, and In flames. Because I am seeing all three under one roof on may 16th!

But I listen to mostly: 80's metal, power metal (blind guardian, hammerfall etc), viking metal (amon amath hell yeah), metalcore, death metal, black metal, grindcore, jazz (YES!) and jazz fusion.

No rap or hip hop or reggaeton please!

As i said in a different thread, Black metal ist Krieg. I pretty much listen to BM exclusively, although i'll make deviations for bands like King Crimson, Adam and the Ants and various Funeral Doom/Dark Ambient bands, like Nortt or Vinterriket.
