It seems that the war of HD-DVD vs Blu-ray is finally over. And Blu-ray has won.

Thoughts?

Who cares what format you use? I personally will stick to DVD.

Why?
1) We have an old 480i TV. We are unwilling to spend money on a HD-TV because our standard-def is sufficiently large. We also rarely use it; the only time it's on is when we watch movies on weekends.
2) We do not want to spend several hundred dollars on a Blu-Ray player.
3) DVD's make easy...copying.

HD DVD had many things going for it, namely the fact that companies didn't need extremely expensive machines to make them; the normal equipment for DVDs was enough with some modifications. My family hasn't bothered getting either HD player, though now that Blu-Ray has all but won, I'll try to get them to buy a PS3. I've always wanted to game on a 63" screen :D

The format war was over at CES, but I guess this confirms that movie companies have chosen Blue-Ray. HD-DVD could produce storage discs and such though. I guess they've just lost the format war in terms of films.

It makes me sad though. I have a soft spot in my heart for HD-DVD. (It might just be there because I don't really care for Sony though)

If the PS3 Wasn't such a flop Blu-ray would have won a long time ago....

Isn't over just yet. I'd have preferred HDDVD just because it would of been a better choice for next-gen gaming over Blu-Ray that and i wanted Sony screwed for forcing blu-Ray upon people.

With that said, i don't care either way. I'll stick to downloads/DVD.
