Definately no need for Guthans.
Most people do as Naphtali suggests and use light clothing. I do it a little differently and wear rune with a shield, so that I don't use much food. This way I make a bank run after maybe four or five games. Though I do use lots of energy pots.
Rather than return to the bank at the end of a game I use the Sceptre to tele me back to the mummy. It saves searching for him and thus a little time.
The main thing is not to fight but run to the next level. Remember you can use your prayer against the monsters and easily top it up again at the altar just a little south west of the pyramid.
