Could somebody explain the Abyss Runecrafting for me?

I'm pretty confused about the whole abyss runecrafting thing. I really want to be able to craft natures so I won't have to constantly buy them, but I don't know how to do it.

What is the abyss?
How do I get into it/ get there?
What should I bring (no pouches) ?
Are there monsters?
Is it dangerous?
Where's the nearest bank?

and anything else you feel I should know.

I've read different sites and tutorials and whatever, but none of them seem to answer my questions.

The abyss is a dangerous, but faster way of making any kind of rune, except Soul, Blood, and Lunar.

How do I get into it/ get there?

First, you talk to the Zamorak mage north of Edgeville. Finish his task (going into three rune essence mines), then talk with him in Varrock. After this, enter the abyss by going north of Edgeville, right clicking on him, and selecting "Teleport".

What should I bring (no pouches) ?

Bring boots of lightness, a glory amulet (needs charges), spotty/spottier cape, pick axe, and, if you have low defense (under 75), bring some dragon hide armor. And if you are afraid of dying, bring a quick teleport (teletab, etc.).

Are there monsters?

There are abyss monsters, 3 different levels (41, 59, and 81), and it is in multi combat. If you have low defense, they can be dangerous, but they aren't very lethal if you have 70+ defense.

Is it dangerous?

Read above.

Where's the nearest bank?

You use a glory amulet to teleport to Edgeville, which is nearest to the abyss. So you should have about 5+ glory amulets and the ability to charge the amulets (you need to do Hero's Quest).

And anything else you feel I should know: If you have sound on, the music, Into The Abyss, will grow on you.

I practically used to live in the abyss before i got 54 RC lol, but i thought i better let you know about a few other things.

-When you enter the abyss, its always good to travel north because of all the 300+ times ive been there, more monsters tend to be south.

-If you have a decent thief and/or agil lvl you have 3 different spots that you can enter the inner ring of the abyss. You can theive your way past the EYES. You can use agil to get thru the TUNNEL. And depending on what you take (ax or pick) you can cut the TENDRILS with ur ax and mine the ROCKS with ur pick. As for deciding on whether to take a pick or ax, take which ever skill is higher.

66 Magic is required to get into the Magic guild as one of the essence mines is located there.

You're 62 so bring a magic potion.

Thanks... =\ but are there any actual tips how to get in there? Like I have no idea what pathways there through the mining rocks are. OO

You don't have to use that one. There is also one in the Gnome Scronghold.

The abyss is different every time you enter it. The rocks look like tubes coming out of the ground.

Also I personally dont like that guide. Its not completely accurate. It shows that there are designated spots where u use certain skills to get to the inner ring when really it all is randomized and different usually everytime. It also says that there is a defined "Passage" marked in yellow and portrays that that is like a main entrance to the center. Personally dont like that one but thats just me. No hard feelings tho ryan, just sayin. :wink:

Well, bring a amulet of glory (4) go in the abyss, there's some fairly good hitting monsyers there. Don't worry with 75+ Defence they don't hit too high, maybe the max is 11.
