I have read the trilogy, really didn't care for it that much.

Don't usually like films that have been taken from something else either.

No, it ends with Lord Asriel in the hut thing and Lyra, Lee, the bear whose name I've forgotten and the other guy in the balloon going to Lord Asriel.

and I remember that the witches flew on -something-, but in the film they don't fly using anything.
