Two girls I know, who are relatively new to runescape, were victims of gender discrimination while trying to run law. Lots of gender-biased comments and taunting. They didn't know to report them for it so unless someone else there did nothing will come of it.

I don't have a neck to put my hands around so I'm venting here. It sucks that an incident like this might keep me from seeing them in the game. Neither of them are as interested in playing as they were, all because of a couple punks without manners. Lame. Sorry about the rant but I just needed to get it out.

I don't really know what to say here. I do feel somewhat bad, but..

Maybe they weren't even actual girls; just guys in disguise as girls, playing some kind of joke that they seem to find oh so hilarious. I can also tell you that there is always going to be those people who are rude and have negative respect for everyone. Others must deal with it because there will be no way to stop it all.

If these two girls can't handle the negativity then RuneScape isn't the best thing for them. RuneScape is always filled with those ignorant children who don't know how to keep their mouth shut.

Sorry to break it to you, but they'd probably not get on in any other MMORPG if that's the case. As a female, I've had plenty of side comments made by idiots but it's nothing that would make me stop what I'm doing. Sorry about your friends though.

I agree with Jaden. All anybody can really do on Runescape is say things to other people. It's not as though they had at any personal information or anything. They were just expressing their honest, though offensive, opinions of existence.

Also, like Jadex, I am too in doubt that what you said is the full story. I'm somewhat disappointed that they didn't even take the effort to look into contacting Jagex and reporting this behavior. If it was serious, they would have at least dome something about it. And if it wasn't, they would have just stuck the offenders in the ignore list or turned off chat. Either way, there's almost no way they would have just quit.

... unless, of course, they were REALLY new to the game. Then it's sort of understandable.

But yeah, I also agree with you. Jagex needs to stop spoonfeeding players in the ways of the skills and start giving advice on how to behave.

I know you have to have to be a little thick skinned about the rude people in the game. I enjoy the girls company in real life and hope this doesn't discourage them from playing. I'm just venting. Thanks for listening.

It is kind of sad to see that sort of thing happening without any action, but I suppose thats one of the risks for playing an MMO.

Btw how didn't they not see the report abuse button?

Tell them to go to the Rules on the left side of the Main Page and have them read thoroughly so they know how to report and for the right reason.

One must have thicker skin than your run-of-the-mill person to hang out in internet games where juvenile delinquents can spew whatever they want whilst hiding behind their keyboards.

I have seen equal numbers of "female" characters in this game milking the helpless female role for all its worth.

It's just a game folks, just a game. Cowards will always exist in the shadows and darkness.

I'm pretty sure I know what they're feeling. I changed genders for Recruitment Drive (is that the one?) and didn't change back for a few days. I got asked out the first hour after finishing the quest. Needless to say, the guy who asked was pretty embarrassed after I told him I was a guy.

There's always idiots in the world who take jokes too far - you just have to learn to deal with them or ignore them. I personally feel like strangling those that would make fun of females, but like people said before - it's just a game. Next time tell them to use the ignore option in Runescape.

You're just saying that to make Mushroom Queen feel better. Barbies are for girls 5 and below I think.
