Today we introduce a new means for players to help each other: the Assist System. This update allows a lower-level player to 'borrow' the skill levels of a more experienced player, creating objects that they could not before.

To take advantage of the Assist System, right-click on a player you would like help from and select 'Req. assist'. That player can then click a pink message that appears in their chat box, deciding whether or not to offer you assistance.

If the assistance is accepted, you are free to use the skills of the other player, making items and taking advantage of their higher levels. The assisting player receives all of the XP, while you keep all of the items you create. This makes the Assist System a quick and safe way to get help making items!

A hand-in-hand icon will appear at the bottom-right of your screen when you are being assisted:

A good example is making an amulet of Strength. You may have the level 49 Magic to enchant a ruby amulet, but not the 50 Crafting to actually make it. With the Assist System you can safely 'borrow' the skill levels of an expert crafter to cut an uncut ruby. Still using the Assist System, you can then make the ruby amulet at a furnace with a gold bar, an amulet mould and ball of string. With the use of an Enchant Level 3, you can turn your ruby amulet into an amulet of Strength.

The Assist System can be used with the following skills:

* Construction
* Cooking
* Crafting
* Farming
* Fishing
* Fletching
* Herblore
* Hunter
* Magic
* Mining
* Runecrafting
* Smithing
* Woodcutting

Notes:

* You can adjust your filters to allow or disallow any assist requests.
* You can earn a maximum of 30,000 experience in any 24-hour period by assisting people.
* You cannot assist someone with a quest, an Achievement Diary (they will not be able to mark a task complete if they were assisted in this way) or a minigame.

Summary

* A way to use the high levels of someone who is willing to help!
* Simply right-click on a player and choose 'Req. assist' to start.

Read the Knowledge Base article here to read more about this system.

In other news...

Some of the children in Meyerditch and Burgh de Rott were missed out from the NPC update. They have been revisited by the Makeover Mage who has given them a more consistent look.

The time-out in the Duel Arena has been reduced to 30 minutes from the previous 60 minutes. We feel this is more than enough time to defeat your opponent with whatever method you agreed upon!

We've also updated the stat icons in the skills tab. They now have a more detailed look, while maintaining their classic characteristics.

The Smithing skill has also received the Make X feature, you will also be free to walk away from the anvil at any point if you make a mistake or change your mind.

It's hell this assist thing, I've already had some guy come up ask for assist and then when i accepted he started asking how to make a clan.

WTF? It's turned me into a walking..help machine. o.0 I can see this one being set to friends just like my trade option.

I do love the new skill pictures though, they really fit the rs world, alot better than the last ones.

They really should have thought through the skill icon thing. Now they have to redo the skill capes. Which will cause the game to maybe act weird with the capes because of this. The agility cape for example still has the "AIM" guy

Report abuse on right click? Since when? They never said this was an update :oops:

30k exp per day isn't too bad, but it'll stop higher levels in certain skills from standing around letting other people do their work :wink:

It's for mods only.

Although I like the idea of this, that you get free experience for accepting the role of "assistant", and I can only imagine what effect this has on Zezima, I still don't know how well the economy is going to benefit from this. Everyone will be in demand for assisting, and those higher levels will help lower levels make things they should be buying, meaning that prices all over are going to drop.

And yeah, I set my assist thing to friends as well, unless someone really wants an assist and begs me for it. My skills are available to all you guys, so whenever I'm online, catch me in the clan chat.

Yeah I noticed that picture also, and I was like: "Wow, why didn't put this on the main page...".

And I like the herblore exp. Lots of people who need herblore help. To bad you can't do anything while assisting.

Except talk to people.

... and over-quote them.

Assist is useful to the low levels and 30k xp a day isn't that bad if you are just going to stand around chatting anyway although I can see this quickly getting annoying as person after person wishes do one thing with your levels wasting time. :roll: This is where the nifty "off" or "friends" option comes in. :D
In other news the new stats look great except the agility one which is a guy in armour?? They should really fix that..
The time out in the duel arena has been changed? I never knew there was a time out time but I guess that's good that it was cut in half. They are getting ready for the tournament style duel arena with the poll and now this update.
Walking away from anvil is great and smithing x was not as needed but a decent update overall.

I think it's a good idea that encourages higher-lvl players to help lower-lvl ones. So, all in all, it's not too bad.

The skill icons on the other hand..wow. Nothing was bad about the old ones, I wish they didn't change them.

Jagex obviously took the picture off their server, if it was a leak of mod powers.

Is there anyway that picture can be posted? or could you please include a descriptive passage to describe it.
Thanks, I'm just really curious.

[/url]firemaking and agility they are the best click each skill above individually to see pic
