You can't buy cigarettes in the U.S.A. unless you are 18 years old too. Under age people find a way around it too. The restriction are in place, but people can still get around it. Nothing is going to change any time soon.

Tbh I think these smoking bans are gonna have a big impact on the UK. I know now that because of them half of my family have started to quit smoking, which is a big relief because I'm fed up of having to smell cigarettes everywhere.

Who cares.

Anyone underage who smokes is one of two things:

1) A chav who, to be honest, would be doing the world a favor by shortening his/her life

2) Attention *****/trying to fit in with TEH COOLKIDS.

Either way, let them go wild. I like they've banned smoking in public areas now so as long as it's not affecting me i don't care.

By underage do you mean old "legal" age, or the new one.

Because I don't agree with what you've said, kids can get pushed into smoking, by their peers, and slowly gotten addicted, or the other category of people who just want to because it's calming.

Anyway, I find it funny having people older than me asking me to buy them ciggarrettes now, because I look 18/19, and seemingly everyone else in college with me is 16/17, even though I'm 17 too, I've not needed ID for anything, including bars and clubs, in the past year or so...

Completly agree.

In all honesty I think two years notice should have been given, instead of announcing a month prior that they were doing it.

Wow it was 16?
I wish it was so in my country.

In my country its always been 18, but, nobody cares about that, a 10 year old can go buy cigarettes in a store if he wants to.

The sandbox was very rarely used by moderators, site owners and admins, it was used by the regular member to have "fun". Flame baiting, spamming or whatever, I think it would have been only fair to ask what everyone else thought first. Regardless of the outcome, it would have been a lot less selfish (because removing it like this is) and would have gotten a much better response.

I find that nothing short of weak minded. If you feel the need to smoke cause you're being pressured then you need to start standing up for yourself some more.

When i was in school my friends smoked, some did drugs, lots of stupid crap. And yeah i got asked, yeah i got it offered and no i didn't give in and go ahead and do it. I've never smoked, not once. Not even to try it. I don't plan on doing it either. And I've never had anyone laugh or try to push me into it cause I'd turn around and tell them to **** off.

And as for calming, theres plenty of things you can do to relax. If you don't try smoking you aren't missing anything.

What are you talking about? Lung cancer, inability to do physical activity, messed up teeth, and early death is the new fad.

Good point, how silly of me. I'm so out of the "cool" loop these days. :(

Smoking is a nasty habit. I am glad that at least in some countries people's perception about smoking is changing. It has definitely changed in the US, now UK is making steps.

Meh, like that makes a differece for me. In the country I'm living in, a sodding 10 year old can buy alcohol and cigarettes, it's kinda depressing.
