Demon Slayer A mighty demon is being summoned to destroy the city of Varrock. You are the one destined to stop him (or at least try).
Requirements: Able to defeat an "apocalyptic demon" (level 27). Items Needed: 1 coin, 25 regular bones. NPCs: Gypsy Aris, Sir Prysin, Captain Rovin, Wizard Traiborn, Delrith, Dark Wizards (levels 7, 20). Difficulty: Novice. Length: Medium. Reward: 3 quest points, and you can keep the Silverlight sword. Silverlight can be useful for weakening demons but is not as good as rune.
Start Point: Speak to Gypsy Aris, whose tent is located in Varrock square.
Begin the quest by speaking to Gypsy Aris. Cross her palm with silver (a gold coin - irony?) and she will inform you that an ancient demon that walked the earth long, long ago is returning, and unfortunately it plans to destroy Varrock. This demon was defeated by an egotistical young hero named Wally, who wielded the great sword "Silverlight".
Apparently, you are the one who must defeat the demon, so after continuing with the conversation, write down the incantation she gives you (yes, on paper or something); you will need it later!
YOUR INCANTATION WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE SHOWN BELOW.
- Time to find the Silverlight. Gypsy Aris tells you to speak to Sir Prysin, who can be found inside, near the entrance of Varrock Castle, on the ground floor. Head over that way and speak with him...
Unfortunately, Sir Prysin decided that the Silverlight was too valuable to be kept unguarded, and thought it best that it should be locked up with the three keys needed to open it thrown away to random strangers. One key is easy to get, from Captain Rovin, another slightly more difficult from Wizard Traiborn, and the last one was accidentally dropped down a drain.
- First of all, you can start by talking to Captain Rovin by going to the north-west tower of the castle and climbing to the third floor (up two flights). In the conversation, talk about everything you can and eventually Rovin will agree to give you his key.
- Go downstairs back to the ground floor and find the kitchen on the north-east of the castle. The kitchen has a sink in it, so you can find it on the minimap by looking for a water icon. When you're in the kitchen, climb up the ladder and take a bucket, then go back down and fill the bucket with water from the sink.
- Go just outside the kitchen and search the drain - you'll find that a key has been lodged in it, but you aren't able to get it out. Maybe you could wash it down..?
Use the bucket of water on the drain... and the key will be washed into the sewer.
- Now to find the key you just lost! Take a south exit from the castle and go east, then south again until you get to a manhole. Go ahead and climb down it.
- You will then find yourself in (low and behold) the sewers (otherwise known as Varrock Dungeon). Instead of taking what would be the usual route to get to a good training spot, take the north-west path that also heads north. You'll find there is a key near the dead end...
The image below also has a part of the minimap shown, if you can't find where you need to be.
- Great; two down, one to go! Get out of the sewers the way you came in, and make your way to the Wizards' Tower south of Draynor Village. If you have already collected 25 bones, go upstairs and talk to Traiborn, otherwise you can kill wizards for bones to give him. You don't need to give them to him all at once, so if, for example, you need to use food and don't have enough inventory space, he will accept as many bones as you can offer.
Traiborn is a bit of an odd fullah.
- There, all three keys! Head back to Sir Prysin in Varrock Castle and he will fetch for you the Silverlight sword when you hand over the keys...
Fancy...
- And now it's time to take on the demon. He's actually very weak, it's only the Dark Wizards that are annoying. You'll need enough food to kill at least three Dark Wizards (level 20) and Delrith (level 27, but weakened immensely).
Walk south of Varrock and head towards the stone circle - before you get there you'll see a cutscene... I won't spoil it all for you.
- The Dark Wizards will attack you first, and since it's not a multi-combat zone you shouldn't have any trouble with them. Just kill them all before you go after Delrith.
- Delrith is next, of course. I hope you wrote down your incantation!
At the point where Delrith has no health left, you'll need to say the incantation. In the correct order, click on the words which make up the incantation you received from Gypsy Aris at the start of the quest.
- Delrith dies.
Congratulations! You've completed the Demon Slayer quest!
