South of the Melzars Maze, there are 4 Yews. Often, you can see many macroers cut yew trees here and most of the time there are 8 macroers at a time. Well, a way to stop macroers at this spot is to have dark wizards here whose lvl is somewhere around 8. This way, macroers could get annoyed or killed and lose items. Why dark wizards, and not random events? Well you still want random events, but it's far too random but not occur all the time. With dark wizards, it's far more efficient and powerful. Lvl 3 skillers won't pass by here as they will cut yews by the bank, and rarely someone goes by rimmington. Also, even if a high lvl player was cutting yews here, dark wizards wouldn't attack it, as it is far out of the lvl range.

It will actually stop autoers but it will also stop fair playing lvl 3 skill pures from having a good woodcutting place.

Well hmm that idea does have some flaws. What if there is a lvl 3 pure skiller that isnt a macro, and thats where he wants to cut yews? Either then that, that would be a great way to stop that macros at that place, but it wont stop macro's for good everywhere.

Not at all, I said that low levels wouldn't cut there

And how's that when there is no bank?

Why would skillers cut at a place where a bank is like thousands of minutes away? Skillers have a brain and they would cut near banks and such. Also, serious skillers would go p2p to cut magics and maples.

Another problem is that all the autoers would just move to other yews, making it worse at the yews closeer to a bank.

jagex can't do that because u're saying that only high lvls should be able to cut logs and the low lvls shouldn't that therefore makes it so they cant cut wood untill they're lvl 16 then they can auto there just like ther high lvls so really there's no way to stop them

You know, autoers are far cleverer than they are given credit for, Much cleverer than 90% of rs players, they will always be able to auto, aslong as rs exists.

oh? explain how macroers run into a door and wait 30 seconds to open it up.

FYI, if the dark mages are level 8, you have to be level 17 to be immune. To be immune from the first strike of an npc, follow this formula.

NPC's combat * 2 + 1

Hmm, well i can only notice there is 4 yew trees there, and it isnt that far from drayorn...Might be just as good as all that people at edgeville with only 2 trees there.

All they would do is move to other yews, hows that stopping them? theres always going to be autoers in games like this, as jagex try new techniques to stop them theyll find ways to get around it

There ya go.

Just like Lucy said, there's always gonna be autoers, no matter what Jagex do. People are always going to find ways to auto, and while putting in those Dark Mages may help, it will be short-lived

Runescape Runs on Java, and Java can easily be read by 3rd party software, so aslong Runescape is on Java there be bots, and i Highly doubt Jagex will go off Java lol.

Give a bot a Gnome ball it stops them for like 20 mins :P
Or annoy the heck out of them with Tele-other while getting mage exp lol.

The Dark wizard thing is a good idea but it wont happen. :(

I think along the same lines, except this needs to be done for ALL skill spots that have macros (fishing/mining/woodcutting/rune essence, etc), but it has to have many tiered usage.

I understand the "this isn't fair to skillers", etc, etc, but we are talking about doing something for the mass population of RS that may impact a very, very small number of players. The macroers ruin the natural economy of Runescape for ALL players.

Let me explain: More low levels are in the eastern side of Runescape as characters normally progress westward as levels rise (I said "normally", not all the time), so a lower level, yet equally aggressive npc should be around every single spot where macroers can do their deeds. Example: Lumbridge/Varrock at woodcutting and fishing and mining spots, have lvl 6 or 7 aggressive NPC's.

Draynor Village/Falador/etc., at the willows/fishing spots have 2-4 lvl 8 or 9 npc's.
This plan should continue as we move westward, so that by the time a person is in Seers/Catherby/Camelot areas, the NPC's would be around lvl 9 or 10.

Most people that use macroers are in it for the money, whether it is RS gold or real world dollars$$, so they are not going take the valuable time to raise the combat level of a bot to that which will not be interferred with by an aggressive NPC.

This plan, in addition to the normal randoms (which, btw, needs to have many, many more types added) will, I believe, cut the macro problem by up to 95% for quite some time, allowing JAVA developers to try and come up with much better macro detection software.

Merlin
