Alright, thinking this over while doing business in-game, I decided to send this message to Jagex.

Well first off, I didn't get called a noob. I was just curious.

I can understand both sides of this argument. If "noob" suddenly became a bannable offense, there wouldn't be too many people playing Runescape, now would there?

On the other hand, I realize that the word "noob" derived from the word "newb" or "newbie" but the meaning has changed. Now it is meant to be offensive. So that would apply to "Offensive Language," right? Apparently not.

As I said, I support both ways. This is just a very unstable rule. Almost anything can count as offensive.

Even a Jagex mod can't differenciate Newb and Noob. He deserves to be fired.

And he fails at grammar too.

Anyone who whines about being called a "noob" has some serious insecurities. I don't see it as offensive, I see it as the staple word of the thousands of young adolescent children (mostly boys) who play the game.

^ Yep.

I think people call others a noob either because they're jealous of them or they thats just the only thing they can come up with.

Unless the player is actually a noob... E.g. A level 90 with good stats asking for free stuff.

If you ever get called a noob and you know you aren't. Ignore it, its just a pathetic little word that no one should take offense to.

And this is why I keep my Public chat off during most of my gaming now.


I find people using the word way to much. Mostly pker's. I try to just ignore it all, but sometimes I just go off on people who use the word to much =s

For about a week, Jagex actually did block the word "noob". I think they might have also blocked "newb", but I'm not sure on that. I prefer not to use it, and I find that most people who do are actually noobs themselves.

Ask a stupid question and get a stupid answer. Do you believe that your query was the only one asking about Noob being offensive?

I'm sick of seeing people posting things from their message box, trying to proove that Jagex are idiots. Yet they ask the dumbest/most common questions and expect a response like what you'd expect from Stephen Fry.

I'm sure that showing these things is in direct breach of the RuneScape terms and conditions too. :\

This is a stupid question to see if the people at Jagex are stupid. I also think that when some people are called 'noobs', they take it as a complement.

Guys, i'm not posting to messages from Jagex to show how stupid they are. I'm asking them question some people may find useful. Quit flaming my thread or get out because some of you obviously can't see the difference in trying to be helpful versus whining.

And if some of you actually read what I wrote, I did not send this because I got called a noob. It was just something that came to my mind. Thought I could help, sorry for trying.

Once someone calls me a 'Noob', I click. I get angry with them, and it ends up ending in my ignore list being full in about a month or so.

It isn't exactly 'offencive', but it sure can make someone angry.

1. Jagex doesnt care, and lol, they won't cencor it.

2. I disagree on cencoring it, as "n00bs" will find ways around it
(froob, choob, goob, moob, zoob, roob :D)
