Some teachers, not all, use a "point" system. Instead of pure percentages. See all those little quizzes on separate books of the Odyssey in English? If those counted the same as, say, the 9 weeks exam, just because it was pure percentages, it wouldn't be fair.

And my grading scale is rather tight too;

100-95 A
94-88 B
87-80 C
79-75 D
74-0 F

highschool freshman year is easy tbh =\

I got all A's without even trying. Sophomore year is so much harder though =\
