After the launch of achievement capes, people have been getting 99 skills just for the capes. Do you believe this is immorale? Firemaking is a really good example of this, it probably won't get a major update for another few decades, yet since the release, getting 99 Firemaking has been incredibly popular simply because the cape looks cool. I recently leveled to 99 Thieving myself (the cape looks kinda crap) and I did it because it is my favourite skill. I am currently leveling to 99 Hunter because it is my second-to-favourite skill. I did all the quests when the maximum QP was 174, long before the QP cape was introduced.

So, what's your opinion?

I think it's a viable reason to get to 99...though it's the worst one I can come up with.

Jagex did it so people would play longer because they're addicted because they want a Skill cape for bragging rights.

That's my opinion.

They're after all a way of motivation to level up skills.

Like the firemaking cape, some want it for the emote. And you know people always say "If you want it, go work for it".

Well i'm doing it to complete my "Dream outfit." To be honest, there really isn't much other reason for getting certain skills to 99. Fletching and Herblore for example. It's not like you'll make bows or make potions any faster. So I guess i'm really just doing it for the cape. But I think the cape has brought out better players because now theres a reason to get 99 in a skill. Plus, whats Runescape anyway? Mainly to be better than everyone else.

I'm getting the 99 fletching because I wanna be the best at something and

the Cape is just a bonus to my motivation.

The sandbox was very rarely used by moderators, site owners and admins, it was used by the regular member to have "fun". Flame baiting, spamming or whatever, I think it would have been only fair to ask what everyone else thought first. Regardless of the outcome, it would have been a lot less selfish (because removing it like this is) and would have gotten a much better response.

Skill capes look cool... I want one. Plain and simple. :P
But I agree with zvono. I wanted 99 firemaking before they brought out the skill capes, just to be different, so now I have a second reason to work towards my goal.

What's a cape? It doesn't mean anything if you've got a fletching cape just because of it being available.

Nevertheless, a reason is a reason. I'm not bothered.

What's so bad about that? Encouraging people to get their to skills to 99 is great even so if they are doing it for the cape. It's a good way for people to show to others: "Look I got 99 firemaking!" for example. So I just don't see the real problem here.

It's immoral in the sense that it makes RS more addicting, but not immoral in the sense of wanting the cape.

I got the level because I wanted the level. As a result of that I got the cape.

I'm not really bothered either. It's actually a good reason to level to 99. The cape is just an award for those achieving level 99.

How is it immoral?

Its a reason to get 99. Imo, a bit of a rubbish reason. The sheer achievement of getting a skill to 99 should be the motivation and reason for doing it, with the cape being a little bonus.

I just want a 99 in a skill and I chose fletching.

I'm partially doing it for the cape as I can show people that I have achieved my goal.
