A quick thought on the German servers...

So I was thinking "Runescape has never really done anything for me except...suck down time I have to make for it..." then it struck me... I could use the German servers to learn a foreign language! Now this seems pretty impractical, but I think with a German Dictionary and a basic book spelling out the basics on punctuation, sentence structure, and grammar...I might be able to pull it off. Hey it might even be so hard...I might break my addiction to Runescape! So what do you think...yay, nay, or "holy **** meese...your crazy?"

You can always a change if you want to, learning another language is always helpfull plus german servers are really undercrowded and nice which I love about them

I need to learn German for the job I'm hoping to get, in a few years time. Every now and then I go onto German servers to try and get accustomed to the language, but not necessarily using the server just for that, I normally only use them cause it's quiet.

Ya, that is what I thought. I checked out the books at the bookstore on German. They weren't very good. They had a decent German dictionary, but all the "learn German gooks (the three that were there)" were all bad. I'll check at home when I go there for springbreak to see if I can't find a semi-textbook-ish text that methodically goes though all the usage/grammar rules. It should be fun...I'll let you all know how it turns out.

i'm going to say "nay".. the server is great by itself, but I'm not a fan of the language. "Viener Shnitsal" is fun to sayt but nty.(lol)

Thats a good idea, except for the fact that half of the people on the servers are just English speakers trying to get away from the crowds. I mostly saw all English people talking when I went on one.

The point is every quest, lvl, and actually everything except the people are still written in German. I plan on reading all updates and quest things as well as items in German...that should be sufficiently hard for me to make progress...I"m sort of waiting for one of our native German (well fluent anyway) speakers to come and either give me the thumbs up or slam my esteemed opinion to the floor in a blaze of stupidity. *Waiting*

Dutch is easy, learned in under 6 months, really

I thought about it also, since we have german at school, and I really despise it, so I play on Jerry server now and then
