German Server

Well I would like to play on a German Server to just escape the crowd of people or something but is the Beta still running or can we non-Geman users use it yet? I saw a picture of Samuel in a German server but I have no clue if he is German. Well thats it folks.

You have to put RS in german from the Main Menu to be able to use German Servers in the Select World thingy.

Well I know that me, Bib, and Sephiroth were playing on German servers and I also know a couple other people that play on them. It's actually a really good way to escape the mass autoers in F2P and the crowded worlds in P2P.

Just select German for your language on the main Runescape page. It's at the top-left corner.

Yeah, it's fun. Not crowded. But you might want to have Freetranslations open, if you don't understand something.

i play on the deutsch server all the time now... i pretty much know where everything is already, and its a good way to escape autoers and maybe learn a bit of german. It is still in open Beta, you can go on

'-.- its the same world as all the other 138 English text worlds out there... everybody knows where everything is already.

anyway... I've been on the server a few days now, and it isn't that hard to understand after taking two years of German study in high school, but here are the problems...

1: a vast majority of the people on the server don't even know how to say "who are you," much less speak any German whatsoever. they just show up to abuse the server for its low population, WHICH IS NOT THE POINT OF THE SERVER!!!! Its supposed to be a place were players who speak German more fluently or prefer to speak German can go to feel more at home. I haven't come up with any ideas of my own yet, but security for access to the German servers needs to be upgraded.

2: my second observation, is that many of the above mentioned non German speakers, and many other accounts that DO speak the language, are discovering that the worlds filter only applies to the German aspect o foul language... as a result, there are a number of words, phrases, and other small bits of text that would be considered vile, disrespectful, and by all means inappropriate in the English language, that are not blocked by the sensor in the German worlds. These people fail to realize that even though the server is German and so is the server, that th rules are still in English... and, please excuse the example, but calling someone a "(darn the rsbandb filter cuts it out. oh well, my point exactly)" in the German server has the same penalties as calling them that in an English server, and is still incredibly disrespectful to the person the comment is aimed at, as well as the background it implies. once again, for emphasis... THE WORD MAY NOT BE ***STARRED*** OUT, BUT IT STILL CARRIES THE SAME WEIGHT OF A LANGUAGE VIOLATION, OR MORE BECAUSE IT IS ALSO ABUSING THIS PRELIMINARY GLITCH IN THE GERMAN FILTER...

so in summary, more than half of the players speak no German and are just there to abuse the low populations and contribute nothing to the growth of the server, and an equally large population is sinking into a mud pit of immoral behavior and making the server a vile place to be for all of us good players.

note: "who are you" or "who is that" is "wer bist du" or "wer ist das" respectively. also, "wie heisst du" is the same as "what are you called" aka "whats your name"

note2: in case it was not clear in the above post, i do not endorse any of these practices. abusing the world for its population is a selfish, slimy, dirt practice, and abusing holes in the filter is even more malicious. I guarantee, I've earned +10 or 20 points in the right direction of becoming a mod since visiting the German worlds with all the rule breakers thinking they can get away with everything there.

You're German, and it's a German language server, so you mean you're abusing it for your own good while non-Germans are forbidden from doing that?

People (some of my friends) go on German servers just to get more Yews, better combat XP, ect. I don't like that, and I tell them off. Germans who do not know English should be allowed to go on their own servers, what if the servers are full on noobs who only thing of themselves? I just think everyone should think of others for a change.

Unless the server gets to 2000 people, everyone should be aloud on it. But I do find its unfair if someone plays on the server who can only speak German, and runs into someone who can't speak German. He originally thought he could communicate with that person since it was a server for his language, but he realizes he can't.
I'm on someones friends list (their not on mine) who doesn't speak English, and occasionally he will PM me. The problem is, I can't speak or identify his language, and it doesn't feel good ignoring him. I explained that I can only speak English before, but I guess he only understands words like "use", "drop", "eat", etc. But since he is a low level F2P, he could be saying, "phr33 st00f pl0x!" in another language.

good point chaoticpsycho... access does need to be restricted somehow. Last time I went onto the German server, i saw people speaking English almost everywhere... The problem is that more and more non-german speakers are going on and taking advantage of the still-low population. Back when RSC was all-pk, you could switch between pk and non-pk, but you couldn't do it anymore after 3 switches. This would be a good idea to apply to the different language servers: If you want to switch, do it on the main website, but ther'll be a delay of like 14 days.
