Help!

Ok, on rs, im getting a really wierd lag.. not slow all the time..

Like it doesnt click and do anything all the time.. but it does sometimes..
Ive ran windows defender and adaware and removed all malicious files..
But it still doesnt work... any ideas?

Also under task manager, stop the possess that seem strange to you.

Well it might be their servers as well, Weird things happen on RS.

1. Run a speed test: Speed test.net
- Do multiple over different servers. List ~ 3 results, include ping times, up and down speeds

2. Do you share you Internet with others? Ie; two computer connected to same connection.

3. Are you using wireless Internet?

4. What is you cpu usage while running RS? (If 100% most of the time then you have to get a faster computer.) If you running other processor intensive apps, close them ..

Just a note to everyone on Windows machines, never end the process "svchost" after 30 seconds it will automatically shut down your computer.

Does this problem happend when your only playing RS, and not doing anything else?
Do you get lag on other sites?
Does this happend at particular times everyday/everyother?
What are your virus/spyware/adware scan times set for?

It doesn't for me, but it makes things a lot worse and takes 10-15 mins to return to normal.
Have you been using Windows Media Player?

Sadly there are some programs and hidden applications that some and many spyware/adware removers cannot detect nor remove. Sometimes the removal programs will remove the bad files, but they can come back after a restart, usually due to the bad files being stored in your system memory. Also adware/spyware can be infected in your system restore files. These 2 facts I found out the hard way once.

Anyways, what anti virus do you have? Firewall?

If you have a good firewall you should be able to view current internet activity, ie: hidden programs that you cant see in your system processes menu. These usually hide in the background and send information to who knows where.. They can cause some lag.. Another thing i found out the hard way.

Are you getting any lag with any other games, online or offline, or any programs, movie clips, music etc?..

Hopefully that helps a little.
