Need to understand:

when he reaches 2.5m high he completly stops
gravity is 9.80m/s^2
his max height is 2.5m

You know now 3/4 things, find a formula to find the initial velocity

Yup, andy completly got it, and his solution is alternate, which i didn't know xD, he used gravital acceleration.

So there are TWO ways to solve it.

NVM that was a bet ment to be against ...

Also: His and my equation basically meant the same numbers were punched into the calculator (and in the same order), but just he had a different equation

T3h Solution for you who said it was impossible:

Gravity potential energy equals Kinetic energy
Ep=Ek
mgh=(mv²)/2...............................'mgh2005:P Mass G=9.81 Height Velocity
gh=v²/2.......................................'m on both sides, so dump it
2gh=v²
2*9.81*2.50=v²
SQR(49.05)=v..............................' take SQR from 49, easiers without calc
~7=v

He needs a minimum speed of about 7m/s
