There's only one Queen..who rules over..several country's actually, not one for whales and one for the UK.

She's queen of uh, the whole of UK, Australia and apparently Canada to, lol.

And uh..no, she doesn't REALLY have much power anymore, shes pretty much there to stop the country turning into a dictatorship, Mr Blair has to have her backing him to go to war, if i remember correct.

Kinda skeptical on it though

Mostly, the Queen has little power and is only a figurehead - someone to look pretty and stuff.

However, she does have the power to dissolve parliament, and not just the English parliament, but also every other parliament in the commonwealth, so Canada, Australia, etc, etc. If she were to do that, she would have absolute power over all the countries in the Commonwealth Realms (all of these countries.)

She wouldnt do that, at least probably not. At the moment, she has delegated her powers to the other countries' governments. But she could take those powers away very quickly.

Canada being the biggest. here another question. Do you have the Queen face on any of your coins? She's all over ours. Canada is thinking about ridding us of pennies.

The Queen also has no direct role in Canada. We have something called a Governor General who is the Queen's representative in Canada. The provinces also have a Lieutenant Governor who is the the Queen's representative in the provinces (province = US state)

That's the only use I know that she has.

What happens when Mr. Charles becomes king? :( He seems like the kind of guy who'd prefer a monarchy.

I hope not. In my opinion, Queens are better than Kings.

I don't believe he's going to be King just because of who he's going to be marrying, i think it'll be one of his sons..who are giant jackassess as it is.

Basically once shes dead and gone i can't see us keeping a royal family for to much longer, the ones in line for the throne aren't all that popular with the people.

Lets face it, one killed his ex wife (ok, there's no proof of that but it's all far to sus, i say he set her death up and so do many others.) one walked into a party dressed as a nazie just as our vetrans was remembering back to WW2 as it was that time of the year, so that's two morons that i'd never want to see in power.

Only one left is the other son, who's a bit of a prat anyway.

Ehh, from Wiki:

Quote:
Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor; born 21 April 1926) is Queen of sixteen sovereign states, holding each crown and title equally. However, she is more directly involved with the United Kingdom, where the Royal Family resides, and the Monarchy is historically indigenous.

Apart from the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II is also Queen of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, and Saint Kitts and Nevis, where she is represented by Governors-General. The sixteen countries of which she is Queen are known as Commonwealth Realms, and their combined population is 128 million.

Elizabeth became Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Ceylon upon the death of her father, George VI, on 6 February 1952. As other colonies of the British Empire (now the Commonwealth of Nations) attained independence from the UK during her reign, she acceded to the newly created thrones as Queen of each respective realm so that throughout her 55 years on the throne she has been Monarch of 32 nations, half of which either moved to different royal houses, or became republics. (See also Former Commonwealth Realms.)

She is presently the world's only monarch who is simultaneously Head of State of more than one independent nation. In legal theory she is the most powerful head of state in the world, although in practice she personally exercises very little political executive power.

Elizabeth also holds the positions of Head of the Commonwealth, Lord High Admiral, Supreme Governor of the Church of England (styled Defender of the Faith), Lord of Mann, and Paramount Chief of Fiji. Following tradition, she is also styled Duke of Lancaster and Duke of Normandy. She is also Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces of many of her Realms.

So she has quiet a bit of political power, she just doesn't use any of it.
