Vacation Mode

I just posted one of my first suggestions on the RuneScape forums. But I thought I might also show it to you.

There should be an extra feature added to Runescape called Vacation Mode. Or call it Hybernation mode, I don't really care. The point is that when suddenly happens in your real life and you absolutely got no time to play RuneScape, then your account isn't that safe anymore. Right now it takes a couple of days (?) to change recovery questions and it can take a week to get into your bank. So if you're just gone for 2 or 3 days there is nothing to fear. However if you're on vacation or you got other things to do that takes longer than a week you're account isn't just safe. So there should be a vacation mode where you can say for how many weeks you're gone (with a maximum of 3 weeks or so). And you got to confirm that with [fill in what is needed for that, perhaps only your pass, perhaps something that his harder to get]. After that (which might take a couple of days, just in case someone is locking your account instead of you) your account is in this so called vacation mode, and you and any other evil minded person is unable to log into your account.

i like the idea, right now im retired but i still what my sutff to be safe. i would vote yes for this.

There is such thing in WoW, when you log out in your inn or home city, your character enteres rested mod, longer you will stay in your inn while logging out more rested you will be when you come back in. In rested mode you gain 200% experience from monsters. That's it, so for example I didn't have enough to play on yesterday I just go back on my character and gain all that xp that I missed really fast.

Problem is if someone got on your account they could just hibernate you over and over, affectivly ruining your account.

I can't see it working myself. If they can get in youur account they can get past that. Unless it's like a bank code.

I indeed said I don't know what's appropiate to get into this mode. I was thinking of several days ahead and perhaps with all the security things you got?

maby like 3 days ahead u have to set it then u have to agrea to it for the next 3 days every time u log on then it locks for the set amount.

I think its a good idea, but Jagex would have problems of people locking your account for you... even if they tried to prevent it...

Hay's Handy Hint #24: If you are going away for awhile store as much money as possible in the kingdom-thing for Throne of Misclennia. Not many hackers look there.

Hay's Handy Hint #12: Sell all your items over 150k if your going away for over 2 weeks. Therefore you won't lose money if items drop majorly in price. Especially fluctuating items that are at the height of there price (robins).

In love the idea, I'd use it but I don't know if some people would because quite a few like ebing able to log into their accounts while they're away. *Rolls eyes*

I like Tom's unlockable code idea.
