Well hibernate does technically turn the computer off, but it dumps everything that was in the RAM to hard disk so you can pick up where you left off. I hibernate all the time. In fact, i havent shut down my computer for about 3 weeks.

Also when you are running like win xp, it is better for your comp to be left on all teh time so the change in temp doesent effect your pross, ram, ect.

But i dont know how to help ya lol.

Theres a natural occurrence in Windows XP called "Winrot".

Winrot is the way that Windows operating systems, over time, just get inefficient and *******, because of crappy drivers, bugs, loads of things. Most windows users will say that Windows XP requires a reinstall every 2 years or so to keep an efficient system. This is because of Winrot.

In theory, always hibernating rather than shutting down would stop this winrot from happening, because hibernating every day would mean the core files of the operating system dont change. Of course, updates and some software installs require a restart, but that would normally be the only time i shut down the computer.

Its also useful to Hibernate, because its a faster startup, and you dont lose any unsaved data.

Go to the Control Panel->Power Options->CLICK the Hibernate TAB, make sure the Enable hibernation checkbox is checked.
Your computer should now be able to hibernate.

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much."
And spread his arms out on the cross and died.
If you believe that he did this for you put this in your signature.
