I was bored, and was so looking around on wikipedia, then I stumbled on this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsidian

Obsidian is a real mineral, a type of glass. It is produced by volcanoes. Did anyone else know that? And do you care? (vote in pole)

Sick! Sound like a cool mineral. :) Imagine a real Obsidian maul. Scary.... And cold to the touch you say? Ironic seeing as it comes from volcanoes.

Yes, I've known it was real since I was in the 1st grade.

And it's cold to the touch because, obviously, it's cooled down. You wouldn't touch thing sright after they blew out of a volcanoe..

my friend has a lump of it (his father is a geologist, or something like that), it's really heavy and hard. And i don't understand what's so wrong about jagex using real material, i could have made a topic like 'omg, wood is a real compound!!!!'

I suppose in reply to it being sharp when broken, what would make it well suited for weapons, no?

ANd the cape you have to be made of 'scales' of obsidial. much like chainmail

Adamantium is real...in my heart. :(

Wikipedia wrote:
Adamantium is a fictional chemical substance, often a metal. The name comes from adamant or adamantine combined with the Neolatin ending -ium, and resembles the form of the names of the chemical elements. In its classical meaning, adamant referred either to any hard substance, including diamond, or a hypothetical impenetrable mineral; thus, adamantium often refers to a fictional impenetrable element or substance.

Hard luck.
