The beginning
I started playing runescape in April 2002, in the days of RuneScape Classic, playing with two friends who had started before me. I originally started with the account Matt23590, but that is now dead and gone, and in the past somewhat. About two weeks after i started, i decided to make a new account, and that is the account i use even to this day: St.Laflahae.
I remember my first days of RuneScape were spent in a rather noobish fashion. I seem to remember thinking what i now know as Al Kharid was Varrock, and i got really annoyed when someone else got a Bronze med helm that was on the floor in lumbridge castle. I remember thinking that the 10gp to get though the gate to Al Kharid was a lot of money.
After about 4 weeks, I had my first death. It was slightly annoying, because being the noob i was, i carried everything i had everywhere, and so lost everything, except some Leather armour and a bronze pick.
Mining, Smithing, Trading, My First K
The first skills i started getting up high were mining and smithing; ive no idea why, they just appealed to me, and I seemed to advance quite quickly doing them. I primarily used the mine south-east of Varrock. I dont know if you'll remember, but it used to be more open, and i would take the trip from the mine to the falador furnace, and up to the varrock anvils a few times an hour, making little money, but I was happy of my achievement. I bought myself a sword, and some basic armour to protect myself.
After a while, I hit 15 mining. Im not sure why, but i seem to remember being in the scorpion pit mining the iron at the end when i got this. I remember two rune respawns in rs classic that were in the scorpion mine, and i used to pick these up to get a little extra profit.
Within a month or two, I had reached surpassed both my friends who I worked alongside, in mining and smithing, anyway. I started mining and smithing iron weapons and helms, and after a while, i hit my first 1000gp.
After this, i started trading weapons and armour, and I used to make a trip round the Barbarian Village, Al Kharid and Varrock to buy full Mith armour, to then go on and sell in Varrock Square, gaining 2k profit each time. After a while, though, the RS economy changed somewhat, and this business was no longer profitable. So I started going mining and smithing again, and I steadily got more and more money.
Hacked!
After about 10 weeks of playing, I was, unfortunately hacked. Someone found my pass, and I lost full black armour, mith long, addy battle axe, a few other things. I seem to remember working out the total cost of things lost at 50k. That may not seem much any more, but it was a lot to me then.
Fortunately, one of my friends gave me a cut ruby of his to sell and help me get back on my feet. I bought a Steel Pick, and started mining again, and soon got enough money to get me some more of my stuff back again.
Into RS2
I fell into inactivity after a while, but kept checking the website again, because just after i had started, news came that Jagex were releasing RS2 soon. I got bored of runescape 1, and started playing some other games for a while, particularly Final Fantasy X. Then RS2 Beta was released. I was never a member, and so originally couldnt play it, but i started playing RS1 again, waiting patiently for the non-members beta of RS2 to be released, and it was. So I started playing on there for a while, got full mith armour, hated the look of it in RS2, and so decided to become a mage.
After about three months, I started doing some more quests. I looked around for various help sites, and I found tip.it. I started being a regular poster on the forums, and after about 6 months on there, decided to delve into the world of clans.
My clan times
At only level 38 combat, it was a bit difficult to get a clan started. But I planned for a while, read Blizz's guide on how to make a clan on tip.it, and make K.A.O.S clan. The first few days went quite well. A few people joined, and a forum was set up on proboards (that was a bad idea, but i didnt know about invisionfree then). Within two months, KAOS had a memberbase of 70 people, unfortunately only about 20-30 of them were active, but I was quite proud of it.
The some troubles arose. The clan started slipping further and futher into inactivity, and so instead of kicking all the members who were inactive, like I should have done, I decided to make a new clan. I invited the best and most active of KAOS to join me in a new clan called The Last Elixir (that is spelt right you silly americans), but its destiny was not to be. The clan died after just a few weeks.
But i would not give up. Two people from L.E and one from one of LE's enemy clans were still friendly with me, and so i decided to make a new clan. The Guild was formed on the 29th of January 2006, and for a few months, Sausagedude and I were leaders of it. We decided to step down after a while, but it truly was a great clan. I managed to get my combat from 39 to 56, and got my skill total from somewhere in the 300s to somewhere in the high 600s. Two people applied to join The Guild on the first day of recruitment. Within 2 weeks, there were more, and the clan kept growing, until we got a memberbase of around 30 good, active members.
We decided to grow outwards, advertising in as many places as possible, and thats how i found RSBandB. I primarily used it for advertising the clan, although sometimes looked through some of the topics. I found other forums, too, but none of them seemed to be as friendly as RSBandB.
55 Mining, a Rune Pick, and a Dead Dragon
I dont know why, but this seemed like one of my greatest achievements. As i have said, when i started, i seemed to take an instant liking to mining and smithing more than any other skill. One day i set out to mine five thousand rune essence, and I did it. Starting with a mining level of 53 and an Adamant Pick, I went back and forward for 13 hours straight, mining rune essence, and I came out, having bought a Rune Pick about 2 hours in, a mining level of 55, and 150,000gp's worth of Rune Essence. I sold it all within 30 minutes. I know that doesnt seem like much, but those were the prices then, and i was lucky to get even that.
The next achievement i was most proud of was killing the dragon in the dragon slayer quest. I know many of you probably found this very easy, but most people i have talked to did it around level 60 combat. I completed it al level 44, using Fire Bolt, seven lobsters, and some robes for protection.
Inactivity...
Around early April 2005, i decided to resign from leadership, as did my good friend sausagedude. I became a developer for the clan, putting my knowledge of HTML and graphics into use for everyone there. I soon learnt XHTML, CSS and some PHP scripting too, and the clan was renamed TempusVorteX.
So many events and PK trips happened with TV clan, i cant remember how many, but it really felt good to be in a clan, rather than just a lone player.
I decided i would stop playing runescape somewhat and concentrate more on the coding for the clan. I still play, sometimes, but not very often. I do a lot of coding now for the clan i founded, and help them along the way all i can. It's been a rough ride in places.
And thats my RuneScape History.
