right now rasing smithing i find is pretty hard. it took me a day just to get from lvl 48 smithing to lvl 50 smithing! not only that but gaining lvls gets much harder once you reach a high lvl because it requires way more xp. from knowing that i imagine that once i get to around 70 smithing then it will take me weeks just to gain 1 smithing lvl. this is what i do when raising smithing.

1. I mine 18 coal and 9 iron in the dwarven mines.
2. i go to the furnace in falador and smelt the ore into steel bars.
3. i go to dorics anvil and smith 1 steel pl8body 1 steel pl8legs and 1 steel sword.
4. i go to the general store and sell the 3 things i made.
5. i bank the money i got from selling the 3 things i made.
6. i go back to the dwarven mines and repeat the process.

I suggest banking the coal and iron so you can do more smelting and smithing at once, faster XP in my opinion. But yes, I agree, it does take a while.

if money isnt a problem, just buy a whole bunch of steel bars, or mith and start smithing

I think Smithing is very difficult, they definitely need to raise the exp recieved from each smithed item. Money is a big factor in smithing, but a good way to get over that is to buy steel bars (5-600gp ea) and smith them into Cannonballs, which then sell for 200gp ea. So you make 200gp profit per bar.

I totally agree with the threadstarter. But I would suggest you mine 1k coal, and the 500 Iron.

If you do that first, it will mentaly seem like it go's faster.

I know, I had a huge mining and smithing spur probably in September or something but I got so bored because it takes so long and have done hardly any since. I make some iron and basic steel stuff for newbies but thats it.
I'd definately reccommend banking more of the raw materials then smithing plate bodies though.

Smithings fine, 73 here almost 74, challenge to raise yes and i can't claim it's been worth it yet either but i enjoy harder skills.

They prolly wont make smithing faster for along time..Because you can make too much money off it too quick then with rune ores etc..

Anyways, yes, like someone said, it seems like it goes faster if you mine the ores first, then smelt them, then smith them.

Its one of the worst skillz in the game, and a very slow money making one too, unless u merchant c balls using smithing.

It takes a while, but it's more straightforward than other skills. You buy ore, smelt it, and smith something. If it feels like it's taking too long, take a break for a while and work on something else.

I just downright hate mining and smithing...I'm a wc'r and fletcher but I suggest banking all your ores then smelt/smith them
