Colour and lighting is a very important factor in photo manipulation, for example, I could have shown my "anyone for coffee" manipulation without extra lighting and colour effect, and it wouldnt have given the same feel, it would have just been, a fractal on a cup of coffee.

Your photo manip, and I'm going to try not to be too harsh on this, its too blurry, and the faeries don't fit the scene. Even though faeries aren't 'real' creatures, the idea behind them is they live in secret, they rarely venture out into the open. Keeping this in mind - why would the faeries be out in the sun shine? Instead of making the scene blurry - to give a misty/mysterious sort of feel, try something else, add clouds, make it a night scene.

Don't get me wrong - it's a good idea, but it really does need some more work put into it.

I'm guessing this goes with the whole colour thing but those fairys..just don't...look right.

And also it didn't make me wet myself with freaky evil looking lady like a certain illegal mushroom smuggling queens does.

Another thing you should try when manipulating photos is to add a different mood to it rather than using the colours of the original photo. Mess around with hue/saturation and it'll look a lot more manipulated. The blur effect makes the manip look more low-quality than mysterious or whatever effect you were hoping for. I think it's an okay idea though. You could still improve a lot in the areas that Anubis pointed out.
