Runescape censoring

the current censor is a bit outdated but still does what it's meant to do for the most part. and what may or may not be offensive to one person is most definatly offensive to someone somewhere so making a totally accurate censor is almost impossible, just like with everything jagex does people will like it and some will hate it and whine about it. either learn to go with the flow or get washed away with the tide.


edit:always feel free to send jagex a query about anything that gets filtered that u think shouldn't be, just be sure it doesn't get filtered for a valid reason. hope this helps some of ya out.



send them a customer support query with the ads id number, they look thru the ads their adhost shows periodically but are only human.



shouldn't be reporting if the censor was doing it's job anyways, just wastes peoples time.



actually they still bought string, they just said "buying wool"



google it and anything that is similiar to it.

yea wiz, that's the usual auto response that gets sent out when u send a query in to them, dont worry they do look into them.

I don't know about you all, but I'm thoroughly offended.

its very anoying for me because lots of common dutch words get *****'ed.

like:
"kom" which means "come"... it becomes "***"

or:
"ik ook" becomes "i*****" but it only means "me 2".

And other stupid things get filtered out in english too which gives me the idea that it's just like a random filter which randomly filters out stuff....

i hate when i say things like "it costs 4-5m" or sumthin

It usually blocks out the numbers for no reason

Personally, I don't really mind the small errors in the censoring system. It will never be perfect and messages will always occasionally get mis-interpreted by the program. We just have to not pay too much attention to it and move on.

Try typing "bill,". I was conversing with a game mod a few days ago (bill anderson). It was very frustating at times talking to him as we were fishing in Catherby (lots of people). You start out a conversation:

"So Bill, .....etc, etc" What show up? "So *****.....etc, etc" .

I have yet to figure out what that is supposed to be censoring

I doubt that any jagex staff read what you wrote. I suppose they do this to avoid the fact that this is a problem they can't solve. . 0well
