As we make our way into 2010, we still have the 3 major systems we've had since 2008. Logically, that'd make sense, but because its a new decade, wouldn't game manufacturers want to make a bang to kick the year off?

Which game system do you like better and why?

Xbox 360- Microsoft

Playstation 3- Sony

Wii- Nintendo

Pc--------

Playstation 2- sony

Gamecube- Nintendo

Xbox- Microsoft

Other-

I think there were some threads like this that were closed because of flame wars.

It works like this:
A person owning an Xbox will say the xbox is the best.
A person that has a ps3 will say the ps3 owns hard.
Etcetera, Etcetera, Etcetera.

Fanboys just try to justify the money they've wasted.

I like my Xbox 360, but I'd like a PS3 if I could get one. I don't know which is better, but all I know is that the Wii is not the superior console of this generation. xD Xbox 360 and PS3 have a good competition.

Mmm...I think that's a little general. Just cause you own one game system doesn't always mean it's your favorite (although, usually it does because you wouldn't have bought it otherwise probably). What about people who own more than one? Which one do you pick? I know people who have a couple of those. They enjoy all of them. But anyways.

I'm a PC gamer myself. I grew up without a game system and my parents wouldn't let me have one. I did get to do a little N64 growing up, though, and think it's either the greatest or one of the greatest game systems in it's context. But, I think PC gaming is much better. As an advantage, you can have more controls to do things. Also, you can do other things on a PC you can't really do on other platforms such as text in game and run other programs if you are waiting or have another reason to be afk in game. In general, the PC also has a much greater audience. Many people have a computer for one reason or another. Since you already have it, you don't have to buy a costly game system in order to play games. Not all games are available for PC, but most are which means you can play just about anything that you can also play on any other game system. The PC seems much more versatile and effecting for game playing than other game systems, but that's just an opinion. But I'm sure that if you played it as much as I do, you'd be inclined to feel the same way. :P

I agree with this. I've had game boys and such but they're not really a good comparison to a PC. The first real console I got was the Wii, and my mom uses it to play Wii Fit on it. I've had a few games on it as well, but I enjoy playing games on the PC, because there's so many different things that can work with it. And honestly, FPS controls on a PC seems more simple and natural; it's much easier to aim a gun with a mouse than a control stick.

Eh i dunno. Right now i own everything on the market so i usually judge it on a game by game basis.

For the most part i buy multiplats for the 360 purely because XBL is still better than PSN. Unless they perform better/have extras on the PS3 and use my PS3 for exclusives /movies/PSN Games.

PC is very much a case of will it play better? Dragon age i got on the PC because it's far superior that way and i can't see how anyone could play that on a console after using it on the PC. Actually I've been pondering over if i should get mass effect 2 for the PC or 360 lately but I'm leaning towards the 360 cause i have a save on there already and the game carrys on.

Wii well..sometimes i turn it on cause the blue light is cool. It'll actually get some use when Galaxy 2 comes out but that's pretty much the only thing this year I'm interested in right now.

DS/PSP use the DS much more than the PSP in fact my PSP is gathering dust like the Wii. Awful handheld tbh.

The PS3 is the superior console technically (excluding PC's, which can exceed any console).
However, having played on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, I will say that I prefer the Xbox 360.
The Wii in my eyes just fails. It's a bit of fun for awhile with friends, but other than that, it just sucks.

Agreed as well. The PC offers great versatility not to mention compatability.
When you upgrade a PC its still possible to play really old games while the PS3 (for example) doesn't allow you to play PS2 games any more. That's what I hate most on it.

Speaking of the PS3... I own but I have no Xbox so I can't say which one i like better. But yet, i love the PS3. Awesome media centre and multimedia server, Folding@Home software, and of course games, mini games, etc.
The PSN community doesn't seem too bad. But since I see more people using Live makes me think XBL is much better.

On the last part, I would say I agree, except that if you play on a console enough, it becomes very easy and natural to aim. Because I never played on a console as much as the average person, I'm always at a disadvantage in any console game, esp. first person shooters. Depending on how long you play a console, you will be a much better person with the controller. But, saying that, I think that for any gamer level, it's very simple to use the mouse to point and click. But if you already have the practice in on a console, I'd have no problem of sticking to it.

Generally the lifetime of a video game console is about five years. There isn't any need to release new consoles.

No natal is not the "new xbox".

I dunno. Sonys previous consoles are all at about 10 years. Nintendos are all over the place. The xbox did last 5 years. And the 360 is in it's fifth or sixth year now.

Your right about the no need though, the next wave of them to hit are going to need more than better graphics so it should be interesting when they do release. Ideally i could go for a new console 2013-2015 myself tbh. I

Consoles just need to be where the best PC video card is.

One of the problems with console development is that unlike PC games, they are designed for a specific hardware set. You can't design a game that taxes the current console, as people can't upgrade to be able to play more effectively.

As much as I'd love to see a new generation of consoles, nothing is at the point in which the hardware *needs* to be upgraded. The only game that would be a great port to the consoles that could really test what they can do would be Crysis / Crysis 2, though the developers have said that they have no plans to do so. So, until the majority of PC games require hardware that consoles don't have, I doubt we'll be seeing an upgrade. (I know about console specific games, but those are designed to work well on the console they are designed for, and could potentially be better if better hardware was available)

This being said, I'm more of a PC gamer. Upgradability is great, though I prefer the openness of the communities of PC gaming. With most widely used games, you can find some type of modification, be it a new skin pack for characters or items, or a full new game mode. You can't find that type of openness on the consoles.
