It appears that now the only real option is torrents :) Which is fine by me.

Dang. That sucks. I mean, sharing and pirating are still going to happen, just in more illegal ways. xD

Yaaay no more viruses!

... or potentially even more as the general public resort to desperate measures? :(

Limewire was full of viruses anyways.

But they can't kill torrents as it can still be a legitimate way of sharing things. I think you can download most open source stuff (like OO or Linux) through torrents and it would be super fast.

Can't believe people still used LimeWire anyway.. It has been the cause of many lawsuits, and it's obvious that you can be tracked while using it. Good riddance.

And yea @Cliff, the speeds are generally amazing. People openly seed and want to legitimately share content over bittorrent, so especially when something fully legal comes along, it's no surprise that the downloads are extremely quick. LOVE it.

My mom got an e-mail from the FBI a few years ago because my brother was using LimeWire. :P

Every non-tech savvy person I know uses LimeWire, and every Mac user since they dont get a lot of the viruses out there. So this si going to hit them hard. I suppose they will use FrostWire?

You could just buy the music? That's always an option.

LimeWire are doing nothing wrong. They make software- they don't distribute the content. That's like suing the companies who make DVD burners because it allows someone to rip a DVD and give it to someone else. Ridiculous.

If they've got a problem with people illegally downloading, go after those people. Not software developers.

Regardless..the product they distribute is full of viruses. I like the fact that my dumb friends will actually take my advice and use torrents instead of Limewire. Good riddance imo.

Yeah, but it's user generated content, it'd be insanely hard for the company to get rid of it.
I use FrostWire, and as long as you stay away from the files that are CLEARLY viruses, there's no problem. I've only ever gotten one virus on my computer, and, if I remember correctly, it was user error #-o
Long live FW.

If they've got a problem with people illegally downloading, go after those people. Not software developers.

But if you remove the means by which people can get illegal content, it's much easier than pursuing the downloaders. Not to mention the fact that without the content, downloaders would have to go somewhere else or no download at all. It's much easier to pick out a company and stop them rather than try to track down and punish the millions of illegal downloaders, don't you think? Gun companies don't kill people, they provide a means for getting guns. That's why you have regulation of gun companies. I agree with what your saying, but it's just not sensible and possible to enforce in that regard unfortunately.

Never got a virus from Limewire. This really sucks. Limewire is ****. I still buy cd's in stores if I really want. but as paying for songs on Itunes.. never. will never pay 1.29 for a song.
sure it wont stop @ Limewire either.
though the best way, not the only source in getting me music. [-X

hear stories of people being fined 500 per song they downloaded. not sure how they are that unlucky and stupid to be targeted like that. eh.
Used Forstwire a few years ago. If not already. sure it'd be next. and sure it wont stop there.
dark times are among us...
