Can still void warranty, but that's fine and expected. I'm just glad it's legitimized now. Thank you EFF :)

This being said (again :D ), do NOT post links to cracked software / .ispw files. Those tend to be illegally obtained, whereas the links for iDevice Jailbreaking software is now legal.

For more Jailbreaking info & jailbreaking software, check out the Dev Team's blog.

Also, is anyone going to make the switch over to a different GSM provider in the US? You can do that now (legally) if you unlock your phone.

It used to be illegal, I though it was like a grey area.

It was a gray area. Now it's legal.

Well a lot of things in this world are gray area. Gray area just means it probably is legal under certain conditions. This is just one of those things that should have been legal, but because of proprietary issues and other things, it hasn't been until now that they will allow it. Glad they finally let it be legal. Although, if it's only US law, that means it still can't be done elsewhere unless it is legal elsewhere. Kind of interesting to note.

Some of my favorite jailbroken apps are as follows (Note, all are legal - Please don't mention programs that circumvent the law)

-SBSettings
-Winterboard
-Cyget
-Icy/Cydia
-Flashlight
-OpenSSH
-Battery Control
-Five Icon Dock
-Five-Column SpringBoard

Think that's the majority of them that I'd recommend... SBSettings, Winterboard, Cyget, Battery Control, Five Icon Dock, and Five-Column SpringBoard are to change appearances, whereas the others are utilities.

I don't see the benefits of hacking the device anymore..

With the new 4.0 firmware it just seems useless. You can pretty much customize everything now. Most apps now do everything a jail broken iPod can do. So what's the point really

To break free of the tyranny of Apple!
Also so you can get apps elsewhere.

lol eh.. im just too lazy to jailbreak it if thats the only reason. i do hate apple like a fat kid hates diets (no offence to anyone) but ill just keep it unjailbroken until they become self aware and try to kill us all..

(ill lock it inside a safe until the battery dies and then jailbreak it once it stops moving ;) )

@ your iOS 4.0 thing

I don't have a recent device, and I can't even use OS4 if I wanted to. And with the way it works on the 3G I'd have to be delusional to upgrade from the 3.X OS.

Seriously....

I don't have an iPhone but I've never had those glitches on my itouch..

I wouldn't even believe that video if I did. I hate those cause not all devices do that. It's like when vista first came out. People were crying when it had glitches. I bought it when it first came out and I had no problems lol

Edit: wow I never thought I'd be defending apple lol. I've lost my mind ahhhhhhh

I'm guessing you've got the current gen iPod touch, the 3rd gen... And that's why you're not having issues. Hardware wise, my ipod is similar to the 3g iphone. Hardware wise, the 3rd gen iPod touch is similar to the 3GS iPhone. That's why I'm guessing there aren't any issues.
