Hi guys.

I recently broke another iPhone screen. :( this will be my third in one year. In the past I've just taken them to the Apple store for a replacement costing me $200. Although this time the LCD screen in cracked getting the white/grey lines everywhere. Im almost 100% sure it's only the screen as it happened right after i dropped it. NOT the ribbons being loose or hardware.

I looked at a few tutorials of replacing one and it doesn't look to hard. Have any of you done this or know much about it? Wether it be cracked glass, a digitizer or the LED.

cheers :)

Yup, I have done a couple for people at school and it is not hard at all. I just followed a youtube video. It shouldnt give you any trouble at all.

I'd check out iFixit as they have both videos, picture tutorials, and parts.

The parts are ~70+ depending on all that you need replacing, but even the most expensive replacement is cheaper than $200. If it's the full assembly on a 3g, it's roughly $150. Depending on what you need replacing, and how old the phone is, it may end up being worth just upgrading / getting a new phone.

I'm thinking you should get insurance on the iPhone if you are breaking it that often. Get a good warranty for the thing so you aren't paying $200 every time you break the **** thing. Anyways, I thought they would just replace it free anyways since you bought it from them. Guess that isn't the case. That would be my recommendation. Sad part is that usually after you get a warranty, you end up not using it. Still, since this is your third time damaging it, I think it would be worth it to get a warranty on it.

I would but the problem is the warranty wont cover screen damage...

A friend gave me a 2G with 3.1.3 so i used redsn0w to hacktivte it. I've been watching some videos and it replacing it looks easy. Tedious though. >.< I may just go to a third party.
