I get mass E-mails all the time from various computer stores, and I usually browse through them just so see what's out there. I checked out a tigerdirect sale today, and I was supirsed. What I saw was a 15.6'' notebook with a quad core i7, 4gb of RAM, a 500GB HDD, and nvidia GT 540. For a laptop that is $769 before the sale discount, this is amazing. If you're wondering, the Nvidia 540 is enough for gaming, according to reviews, it can run blackops and starcraft 2 at high detail in the laptops max resolution
Here is a comparable alienware laptop: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834200304 which is $170 more and worse in almost every respect.

I'm not getting it as I'm not going to college, and I already have a great desktop, but for anyone who is in that market, this is a steal.

EDIT: link to laptop http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=552780&sku=A50-1563001 (thanks nikeballa435)

Here is the link to the laptop.

As for what you said, I would have to agree that it is a pretty good deal. But I doubt that it can run Black Ops on all the highest settings very well at all, even if the max resolution is only 1366 x 768.

Whoops, forgot I missed the link, thanks. http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-540M.41715.0.html at the bottom of this page are benchmarks for the GPU, check them out.

Nice laptops, but then again, I like to stick to desktops for gaming. Laptops aren't usually meant to be for gaming. Overheating is just too much of a problem. But again, these are quite nice laptops. I think they are way cheaper than what my desktop cost for about the same specs.

There is no question that desktops are far superior when it comes to gaming, both for price and the actual performance. For those who need a laptop but want to still be able to game (your's truly) they work, but for anything new that comes out from here on out will require me to upgrade to a desktop if I want to run the games at a satisfactory level.

Yeah but speaking from experience from what I just bought, those aren't 100% reliable. Regardless, it is still a decent card and a fine machine if you are on a budget.

Only issue I've got with that is the crummy 720p screen.. 15.6" at that resolution is what my Mom has on her computer, vs 1920x1200 on my 15.4" laptop. Considering it's a sub-$1000 laptop with nice specs otherwise, probably a decent buy.
