This "Google Everything" sidebar feels so obtrusive. Apparently it's been around a while...but if it had been appearing on my searches yesterday, I know for sure I would have realized. Most likely they're releasing it to blocks of users at a time for some reason or another. Now, it may not look so bad in the screenshot but rest assured, if you experience it for yourself, good god is it awful. The sidebar effectively sucks away your open space and leaves you feeling squashed and claustrophobic.

I think it only comes up randomly. I've had it come up a few times, but not every time. It's an interesting idea, although, it seems redundant, since some of those options are at the top like images, news, etc. I think it will be a good improvement on the whole. Should be interesting to see how it works out. And to add a little humor to the topic...

I don't like it much because of how much I was used to with out it, but it's not like it's really bad.

I like how with searching images you can make it so it shows only images of a specific colour and what not. I don't know if it that was there before, but I would have never noticed if the side bar thing had not intruded on me.

Surely, there is a way to disable it if you dont want it to appear. I don't really take to the the idea that much, so i would rather there be a way to disable it then it be left there permanentley

But honestly, does anyone here even use bing?. I get all these emails from microsoft telling me how good they are. I just ignore and delete them.

Eh. Bing was a sad attempt at competition imo. I always use Google...always. But it's not for any particular reason. Just because there searches find what I need where Bing usually won't. Anyways, I think the sidebar could be useful. I'll give it a shot and see how it works out.

Arg. I hate how they've done youtube and if google heads that way then we're all buggered. It's good because it's basic, clutter free and gets the job done. Don't bloody change it.

edit: omg what the hell they've changed yotuube again. It looks **** horrid. **** YOU PUT IT BACK. WHAT..what the hell is going on with them they had a winning formula and they just keep making it worse.

I like it. You really do see the true power when you expand the right sidebar under everything. Google is all about the time it takes to find what you're looking for. With that being said you can easily toggle between types of results. I know some people in their line of work will be glad to have this. Think of this use case: covering a large event or product unveiling.

1. Search term for that event "UK Election"
2. Find the page with the most recent web results.
3. Find live Twitter "updates"
4. Then top it off with actual news.

The idea here is a more granular search, a search that's tailored specifically to you. Ages ago people used Yahoo, some wouldn't have liked Google but they moved to Google eventually.

Oh screw that, I always use Yahoo. Never Google. Though, Google does power Yahoo's search engine, so I guess that's a moot point.
