Colour and lighting is a very important factor in photo manipulation, for example, I could have shown my "anyone for coffee" manipulation without extra lighting and colour effect, and it wouldnt have given the same feel, it would have just been, a fractal on a cup of coffee.
Your photo manip, and I'm going to try not to be too harsh on this, its too blurry, and the faeries don't fit the scene. Even though faeries aren't 'real' creatures, the idea behind them is they live in secret, they rarely venture out into the open. Keeping this in mind - why would the faeries be out in the sun shine? Instead of making the scene blurry - to give a misty/mysterious sort of feel, try something else, add clouds, make it a night scene.
Don't get me wrong - it's a good idea, but it really does need some more work put into it.
