So I've been talking with people via several mediums, and I've yet to find someone who would call 'Dungoneering' a skill.

What are the attributes of a skill?
-Generally unique, not requiring other skills.
-Once a skill is gained, it can be used for something outside of a specific area

Attributes of a minigame?
-Often require more than one skill
-Often requires teamwork in order to be successful
-Often, rounds are completed
-If rewards are present, they often take several rounds to amount to anything worthwhile.
-Often played within a specific area

If you can add more to these generalizations, please do. I'll edit them in at another time. These are what I could come up with in a short period, and I know it's not all that much.

Due to this topic, I'm sure you can guess as to my position on the topic. I see no hint that this is a skill, other than you can go further and do more as your skill rises. This could easily be taken care of by a simple rank based system on the site, and does not require an actual 'skill' level to accomplish this. I have yet to have seen any part of this 'skill' that makes me believe it is anything except a very elaborate minigame.

In one word: Minigame.
And I'll always see it as one.

I'd like to see an explanation from those who voted "skill" :?

A large, sometimes annoying but usually fun, Mini-game.

And another thing to add to your Mini-game list: Often must be played in a specific area.

Added to the list :)

Still want to know who voted for 'skill' and why. Also I'm glad that I'm not alone in my belief that this is a glorified minigame..

minigame lol..

and i wouldnt care if jagex just changed it to a minigame and didnt have a skill released -.- not right to call it a skill.

its basically boss hunting and stealing creation put together. i think their running out of ideas for skills and just added a huge minigame to make up for not having a skill idea

There's very few skill-worthy ideas left that JaGeX hasn't partially covered already in other skills.

I think of this kinda like Stealing Creation(having to build your own gear) and Barbarian Assault (having to battle through levels) combined.

While it is very minigame like, I think Jagex wanted to add having to spend time getting somewhere, rather than normal minigame style of just playing for a reward.
So even though it has all the attributes of a minigame, it was classed as a skill because thats the only way to get it played more than simple "minigames"

It is definitely a minigame.
I find it similar to the WoW version of Dungeons, as you need a group of people to complete it. The WoW version just uses combat, with some raw materials in the actual dungeons.

I won't be training this anytime soon.

Though I love to pick the opposite side of an argument or issue most the time, I have to say it's blatantly clear to me that dungeoneering is more of a mini game than a skill. And with the way Jagex has been doing on content lately, it's no surprise they would try to sell dungeoneering as a skill rather than a mini game. Such a shame... :?

As for the generalizations, I add that just like a skill can be used outside an area or beyond its specific use, skills don't focus on a mini game or any small, limited area, at least for training purposes (construction might be the only small exception to that, though, since almost all building is focused around your house). Dungeoneering is just so limited in these regards that it's hard not to call it a mini game, one massive mini game.

Yeah, definitely a mini game.

I think Jagex should take a look at this poll for them to see how many people disagree with it being a skill.

At the time of writing this, we're at 2 votes for Skill, 15 for Minigame.

Nobody has said why they voted skill. Why not explain your position, folks? (Seriously, I'm asking. Just voting doesn't explain your position, and clearly people seem to want explanation as to why this is considered a 'skill')

There is nothing pointing to it being a skill it is a decent mini game. the only thing i wish is if they released this as a mini game and took more time developing a better "skill".

If you can really call it a 'mini'game but the only sense of that is it being a game within a game.
Since this is what they claim to have added put into perspective

I agree it is just a maxigame. But I kind of understand that after putting so much work into content, to have it just be a minigame, and have not many people playing, I would be really disappointed. Maybe they were really determined to be creative to create a skill no other game has as a skill and got lost along the way and after working on it for so long they decided they didn't want to turn back.

I really wish the xp was faster though.
