Barrows

To maximize the amount of runes/bolt racks you get while on a barrow run, what do you have to do?

Many rumours say that you have to kill at least one of each kind of monster in the tunnel, and some people say you need at least a certain amount of Kill Count .

I reckon that when I have a kill count of 6 I get less runes than when I have a kill count of 20, but I don't know WHAT makes this change. :\

One thing I've found out is, the bigger your KC is, the more runes you get. Idk if it's that simple.

yea even tho im not a big barrows person, im pretty sure the items in barrows chest is just all the drops from brothers u kill. so obviously ud get more runes if ur kill count is higher cuz its more chance to get them as drops.

it all boils down to:

higher killl count = more runes, bolt racks, (little inexpensive stuff) you get.
as for barrows items its still just as random as a reg drop would be. (cuz all it is is a drop, just transferred to chest for you to go open)

i believe by killing certain monsters you get a certain item. i think the large spiders give bolt racks. i cant tell you for certain though. you should do a bit of research, do a run where the only thing you kill is a certain tunnel monster until you get bolt racks. then do a few runs where you kill 5 of that monster and get the average bolt racks, then do the same with10 to figure it out =p

i would do it for ya but im powerskilling atm.

I've always found the higher kill count I have the more runes or racks I get.

I read somewhere that jagex said kill count to 6 from killing brothers increases chance of barrow drop, and kill count from rats and stuff gives u runes

The first six kill count you get from the barrows brothers increase your chances of getting a barrows item.

The kill count you get from killing monsters (rats, skeletons, bloodworms, spiders.) increase the amount of runes, bolt racks, and coins.

Yep. What's been said is deffinitely true. But speed also comes into the equation. I found that getting 300 kc (including all the brothers) didn't actually get me that good stuff. Heres the pic from a while ago:

So anyway, I think if you took say 1 hour to kill brothers and get loads of kc you wouldn't get much good runes/racks. And as you cans ee I didn't even get any racks in that one.

There really is no way of getting more/less items, it's jsut random like most of the things in the game. I seem to get the best drops when I get 7-8 kills from the brothers and then work on getting either 13 or 22 kill count.

Find out what works best for you, it's different for every person.
