Does anyone know a program that you can download onto your computer and enter your or someone else's username and quickly access their skills?
Its annoying to go to the rs website everytime.
Thanks.

If you don't use Firefox, ignore the rest of my post. :P

If you use Firefox, you can create a custom search lookup, ergo you enter a username into your browser search bar and it loads the hiscores for that user.

To do that you can download the one I've made (right click on the link and select "Save Link As..."), copy that file into the Firefox Search Plugins directory, located in the directory you installed Firefox into (usually C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\), and that's it. From there all you have to do is restart Firefox and you're ready to go.

Image

You can also tell Firefox to automatically open the hiscores lookup (result of any search) in a new tab, which is very useful so that you don't accidentally navigate away from the RuneScape page! Type "about:config" into your address bar to access Firefox's advanced configuration, promise to be careful by clicking the button that says you will, type "browser.search.openintab" into the filter, then double click on the result that comes up to change its value to true.

Also topic moved to RS Related Questions. Borderline Tech Talk but well, it's RS-related. :P

It should also be noted that you can navigate to:
http://hiscore.runescape.com/hiscores.ws

Then do the following:
Image

That is right click the username field and select "Add a Keyword for this Search." You'll then get that dialog in the centre. Enter in whatever you want for the name and rsn for the shortcut.

After you do this it's a simple matter of typing "rsn your username" or "rsn shane12088" without the quotes.

If you use a variant of Explorer (7 or 8 only) you can go here. Under the create your own section, fill in the following:
http://hiscore.runescape.com/hiscorepersonal.ws?user1=TEST for Step 3.

You can specify whatever you want for Step 4.
Then just hit install :P

Oh and if you're using IE and it's not 7 or 8 please upgrade to either 8 or Firefox.

Try to stay away from third party software. It isn't endorsed by Jagex and you never know what could be creeping about in it.

Cool thanks.
I would do this but I like the Hiscore viewer on your website looks better.
How would I make a search bar at the top to link to the RsBandB hiscores viewer?
Keep up the great work with the show!

Try this?

It's basically a matter of replacing the URL in this line of the code...
Code:
<os:Url type="text/html" method="GET" template="http://highscores.rsbandb.com/runescape_bits_and_bytes/user_high_scores/skill_rankings/{searchTerms}">
</os:Url>

... with your preferred search URL, and adding {searchTerms} in place of where what you're searching for goes. You can change the other information like search name/description, and can usually completely remove the icon part if you aren't familiar with Base64 code. :P

Okay, sorry for hijacking the topic, but I am interested as well.
What if you have a Mac and want (Chiefy's way) to do this? I can't find any folder of Mozilla Firefox.

You could always download swiftkit. It has built-in highscores,goal trackers, IRC, and runescape applet built into it.

I use SwiftKit. It isn't endorsed by Jagex but it's not against the rules either. Its has no viruses.

Create a new bookmark and add the following to the location instead of a URL:

Code:
javascript:var%20tmpURL=%22http%3A%2F%2Fhiscore.runescape.com%2Fhiscorepersonal.ws?user1=%22+prompt(%22Runescape%20Username%22);location.href=tmpURL;

Clicking the book mark prompts you for a username and then calls the RuneScape Hi-Scores page for that user.
