I am a f2p and with the new updates i cant make money.
I was a good merchant but that was taken out. I dont mind that though.
So i sought another way to make money. Mining. I can sell gold for 500ea. So i get my crafting up a few levels to get into the crafting guild where there is 8 gold rocks.I mine about 1k gold and go to sell it. I haven't sold any and the price has dropped. Cant make money here.
I think, wat about woodcutting, nope, my brother does that and cant sell his logs. Besides my wc level stinks.

So wat am i to do besides screw around in the minigames. :(

Try setting some goals for yourself. Thats what i always do and for the 3 years Ive played RS ive rarely gotten bored. If skilling isnt your thing or it gets a little old, try getting your combat up. High lvl combat F2P are pretty respected considering the majority of F2P arent really 80+. (Sry to those of you who are)

lets see, with the various skills, here's how you can make good money:

mining: this is 100% profit. if you mine iron or coal, its close enough to a bank to store it and sell large amounts for 100x kgp. if you want to mine gold, get a runner. sell him gold 28 at a time from the guild for a discount (3k off the total price is about right, and happens to be the trade limit.) he then banks and sells the gold for a higher price. you make more gp per hour that way.

smithing: the only real way to make money smithing on f2p is to buy iron and coal and make steel bars, then sell those. iron and coal prices keep going down, but steel bars seem to go up. good profit in that. or if you mine your own iron and coal, you can make steel bars to increase the worth of the supplies you mine.

fishing: obvious, go fishing and sell lobsters. its the only way to make cash on f2p. nobody buys tuna and swordfish are too expensive/ plus with pking mostly gone not many buy them anymore. not reccomended.

cooking: i have no idea how to make money this way... doesn't seem possible to me. good luck

woodcutting: on free to play the only option is yew logs or normal logs. normal logs are for arrow shafts, yeah, and yews for yew longbows. basically these logs fuel the fletching supply market.

crafting: you can't make money actually crafting in f2p, but you can sell supplies for crafting... basically cowhides and gems. not a great source of income.

This is what I did, I just cut willows for a few days, then I Cut yews. Yews are kinda slow, but actually they do make good exp. They sell for like 380ea. I'm not really sure what else you could do to make money in f2p, but maybe I could help some more if you sent me your stats. :P

Try making wet clay and selling on GE. It doesn't make as much as gold but it sells almost instantly.

It is bought by P2P for making teletabs in POHs.

It got my F2P account to 100k from almost nothing.

I agree with what everyone else has been saying. Getting money in F2P is harder now than it previously was, but the skills mentioned by Cooper will definitely help you to gain some cash. My personal recommendation would be to cut yew logs and sell them, though this may not be for you. Prices are back up to what I used to sell mine for two+ years ago when I was in F2P, and there are no longer autoers around to steal your spot. By doing this, I made millions (how many I am not quite sure) by cutting around 500-750 in an afternoon after school was out.

Guess what Rodsay recommended hasn't been around for long, but it would definitely help to get some quick cash. When I had my alter open while I was getting 99 Prayer, people would always come in to use my lectern. I can definitely believe that the soft clay would sell near instantaneously when you put it in the Grand Exchange.

Rune ess isn't great money but considering that you get a full load in about 30 seconds to a minute it can be good, and if you have good RC then make them into airs and sell for 15 ea.
