ok so, when i try to open gimp i can see the bar open, but it goes to the left side of the screen like its opening onto another monitor screen. i have a single monitor setup. i cant drag it over to the center or move it at all, because i cant see it. screenshots are below. no the picture is not to desktop screenshots put together, than is what my print screen button copies.

Have you tried getting another monitor, and then using it to drag GIMP over to your main monitor? Then maybe it will open in that spot instead. :?:

Your computer thinks you have 2 monitors. Go into display options, and ensure that only one display adapter is chosen, or choose 'mirror desktop' that way both are the same... Not that you should need to use that option.

I don't know if it will help in this case, but if nothing above works, perhaps a reinstall of the program is in order? Reinstalls usually fix things unless of course they are defaults (such as if the program think you have or requires 2 monitors). :/

Duke just reminded me, if you run a program like CCleaner, you can clear the window location data. This will default all windows to their normal open location.

I was unaware that CCleaner did that.
I don't know exactly how to do it in XP, but in Vista you can right click on the desktop to view display options, or for some laptops there's a key combo (mine's Fn+F8).
