Hey Everyone. Recently, my AVG Free Resident Shield has been acting up more then it EVER has. Around 5-10 times per hour it will appear saying that there is a threat. If gets rid of it but it always come back. Some examples are ones that have appeared a lot are (and they are going to be all of them because it keeps on coming up. In resident shield it says there are 226 records in the list of most of them Tracking Cookies):

cookie.Fastclick
cookie.Atdmt
cookie.Doubleclick
cookie.Casalemedia
cookie.Mediaplex
cookie.serving-sys
cookie.Zedo
cookie.adtech
cookie.Yieldmanager
cookie.2o7
Trojan horse Agent2.JRS(There are... almost 50 of them listed in the resident shield)
Trojan horse Crypt.EML(Not as many as the Agent2 Trojan Horse but still a lot)
Virus identified packed.Rolex
Trojan horse Downloaded.Agent.AYFT

Now most of these have been deleted, healed, or moved to the Virus Vault but it still scares me in how many there are. A couple of days ago I got rid of a list almost exactly like the one I'm telling you. IF anyone knows why it's like this and how I can stop it from appearing and bothering me, then that would be helpful, also, if you need a picture of them all then I will for sure add a like into this thread of the whole list. Some of these files I am still finding on my HD but I can't get rid of them. So if you guys know of something I can do to get rid of them then that would be helpful.
I also have 2 more problems. A couple of times an hour there IE will open up and bring me to an advertising site. I would like to know how to get rid of that because it's annoying and I think it has something to do with all of the Cookies I have.
And something else that might also be related with the cookies. I get these audio tracks a couple of time per hour. One of the most recent was a Jet Dry Advertisement. But there is one that I hear often, it's like the sound of a backup power with low power, like a beep, beep, beep that goes on for a couple of minutes, I normally think it's something to do with Firefox but it normally isn't. There is one going now as I type this and it's for Musinex. Thanks if you can help, that's all I have.

~Tim

EDIT: Since the posted this, there have been no Resident Shield Pop ups or stuff like that. No Pop up IE windows, but there have been an Audio Pop up without the window (that might clear up about the audio problem). I searched it up on Google and the Mozilla Support site might have help me out. I cleared all Cookies but I didn't clear the Cache, so if someone could help me further, I will keep you all informed as stuff happens. Hopefully someone knows.

EDIT2: Nothing from the Resident Shield, no audio pop ups but 3 IE pop ups. Anyone know why it's doing that?

Cookies don't do that. You've got some type of Adware. Scan, scrub, and if you can't figure out what exactly you've got, get ready to reinstall.

You know of any sites that have programs that will hopefully get rid of my problem?

EDIT: If I do have to reinstall, how would I know which programs to keep and which to get rid of?

Try having a look at this topic to see if some of the programs on there will resolve your problems. Personally I use AVG, Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search & Destroy, and that usually takes care of any problems I get.

However, it looks like you might have a virus of some sort, and it might be best just to take it into the shop to get the experts to sort it out. :(

i would take it to best buy or circuit city (or whatever you got in canada) to have them check if the other solutions don't work

Sorry, you made me laugh a bit. If you bring it to a Circuit City / Best Buy, they'll just charge you a flat fee just to look at it, and then try to convince you to buy a new computer. They're the retards of the tech world.

As for determining what to keep and what to ditch, I've found that running through my Installed Programs list and jotting things down in Notepad keeps me up-to-date with what I need and what I don't. If you want to really slim down, don't make any lists and try to only get what you need.

I didn't think of this before, but if you have any system restores, try rolling back to something from a few days ago when this wasn't happening. The restore could tell you what was installed that could be causing it too. As for other means of determining what is causing it, check the running processes list. Run through everything, use Google if you have to. Check Startup programs, and chances are you'll find at least one entry that doesn't belong... (Msconfig built into Windows is my favorite).
