Hey everyone,

I am having troubles with my speakers. My dad has just changeed out hard drive form a 76gb to a 230gb and now the speakers aren't working. There are plugged in but they don't get a reading.

Thanks if you people help and hopefully my dad can fix it when i finishes changing the hard drive.

Tim AKA Mli 699!

I'm not the smartest person here but I'll take a guess, Try installing the drivers for your computer for the speakers.

If not try this.

Is the card listed under Device Manager?
To open Device Manager right click on My Computer click on Properties click on the Hardware tab click Device Manager.

The card should be listed under Sound, Video and game controllers, if it is not installed right it will have a black exclamation mark on a yellow circle by it.

Try that one too!

Thanks for the help, me dad and i have been working on the computer this afternoon and made alot of progress. I will try what you say as if we can't fix it, we will try that and then maybe go and buy some new speakers that match the computer (but i really don't think that will happen). Thanks for the help.

You are sure that you have the speakers connected to the correct jack right? (Some pc's have two or more jacks that aren't marked)

Do headphones work in the jack you are trying to use?

Is there a headphone jack on the front of the pc? If so try connecting the speakers there.

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much."
And spread his arms out on the cross and died.
If you believe that he did this for you put this in your signature.

I assume the speakers are using the headphone (audio out) port, and not USB (not sure if they make them, but considering audio can be fed through USB I won't discount it totally). Try checking the speakers on another system, just to make sure they work in the first place. Change any batteries, if they have them, and as Jrd said - try some headphones in the same jack.

If the speakers happen to have fuses, check them too. I don't know why they would blow, but anything is possible.
