Yo I hesitated to put it in Spambox, however I *think* it might have some discussion value, but you, mods, decide.

Yo I decided to play red/blue again and this crossed my mind:

I feel TERRIBLY bad for kids. I mean they never saw pokemon on its glory days. 151 first pokémons were amazing. The rest was upper crap, aside from a few from 2nd generation (Like Steelix, Totodile's Family or Entei). Gengar, Haunter, Kadabra, Mewtwo, Charizard, Aerodactyl, Dragonite, etc. Thoses were freaking beasts. Now they're all lame weird looking shapes with spikes/giants eyes or robots.
Making evolution for Electabuzz, Magmar and Tangela was one of the greatest mistake ever. So was Porygon Z.
It makes me feel sad that kids from today love pokemon at its worst. I mean they would've shat bricks in 1999.

And Ash traveling partners freaking suck. I mean Misty and Brock were the greatest. The new ones are uber lame useless piece of crap. Brock was hilarious when he flirted with Joy and Jenny and Misty was easily the best character from the series. Yes totally, she was just mean enough for not being a *****, just boyish enough for not being a total tomboy, and I loved when she was always making fun of Ash calling him a terrible trainer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8s7TlpmwMA&feature=related

DOESN'T THAT BRINGS BACK THE MEMORIES? When episodes had some quality. Who doesn't remember the episode against Kadabra? The episode when Butterfree left Ash? The episode when Ash meets Brock for the first time? The first generation had that little something that made Pokémons more than retarded animals that yells their names.

To me, they'll never top the 151 firsts. Ever.
They'll never make better characters than Brock and Misty
Any Pokémon from first generation rapes ALL non first gen.
The first theme song will always be the best.
Red/Blue/Yellow were the greatest games.
Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle will ALWAYS be the very best starters.
Eevee's first evolutions were the best (Jolteon,Flareon,Vaporeon)
Koffing/Weezing and Ekans/Arbok are impossible to remplace as Team Rocket's pokemons.

Yeh, I needed to rant. What do you think, Pokéfans?

Well they did remake Red and Blue didnt they? And came out with LeafGreen?

I know it is not the same, and I hope that they got as much fun out of the first few games as we did. I agree with what you said about the 2nd gen, i thought it was really good too.

Sigh... I am missing pokemon a lot now :(

Missingno ahahah xD

Duplicating is AWESOME if you make a pokemon hold your masterball and clone them just enough times to catch thoses legendary dogs and birds.
But if you have a Gameshark, you can do better than duplicating in Red/Blue: Steal Other Trainer's Pokemons!
Yes, this code doesn't work in Gold/Silver because you can steal them but however, they forget all of their attacks and I think they can't learn any. This is how I got my Alakazam, my Gengar, My Hitmonlee and my Machamp (Because I have nobody to trade with)
For Golem, I used a cheat that allowed me to encounter them (so I did for the other game exclusives.)

Yeh, I'm a cheater, but it was legit. :(

NOessssss!!@!@@

You need to use Pokemon Yellow, in the original graphics... The feeling is great.

I remember being 9 years old, buying Pokemon Yellow at Wal Mart, before I even had a GameBoy haha (My best friend at the time let me borrow his GB lol)

Basically. :P

Don't forget surfing up and down Cinnabar Island and the 6th Item "cheat." Also, catching Mew in game without a Game Shark or cheating.

Wasn't a huge fan of the show. It was like the cheesiness of Dragon Ball Z mixed with a gameboy game. Bulbasaur was the best starting pokemon btw.

Oh, the duplication glitch. GG not enough memory spaces on the game cartridge.

And yes, Bulbasaur is the best one, but you either had to get it to lv13 before the 1st gym for easy mode.

i am definately going with squirtle....squirtle owned them all, imo, i have blue, gold, pearl, and soul silver, and i remember playing gold a loooooong time ago, i personally play my pearl most often, just because i really like the battling with friends aspect of the new ones, and cuz i have stuff trained on pearl, but definately going to have to say that i loved gold, gold, silver, and crystal, were the games of my youth :P

My old church had a copy of yellow with a level 60 pikachu and everything else under level 20. At the last gym.

It isn't really hard to beat the game with only a main Pokémon. You just have to pick the right one.
My favorite pick is a ghost Pokémon (Preferably Gengar, but Haunter will do). Hypnosis + Dream Eater = Epic AND Self-Healing. And the style is BADASS.
Kadabra/Alakazam is a great choice too because he also recovers. But you won't work well against other Psychic type, that's why you need a non-psychic move. Staryu is a **** BEAST when he has a lightning attack, a water attack, a psychic attack AND recover. Thus, you are super effective against almost everything.
Exeggutor is pretty good aswel because it learns alot of moves.

My team always looks like:
Gengar (Psychic, Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Nightshade/Metronome)
Alakazam (Psychic, Psybeam, Recover, Hyperbeam)
Butterfree (Sleep Powder, Psybeam, Solarbeam and a random move of my choice)
Charizard (Flamethrower, Fireblast, Slash, Seismic Toss)
Jolteon (Thunderbolt, Pin Missle, Body Slam, Thunder) (Fastest electric type in game after Electrode)
Nidoking (Earthquake, Surf, Skull Bash, Ice Beam)

With that, I'm super effective against almost everything. But Gengar alone usually can take out any gym leader easily. (except Sabrina, so I use Butterfree's Sleep Powder and Solarbeam)

My team always consists of my starter, a flying type, and a Gyarados. The other three pokemon are whatever is good.

All I gotta do is leech a Magikarp to 20 and I get a powerhouse pokemon, just gotta make sure I don't meet up with any electric types with Gyarados though.

Gyarados is a beast. However is uber weak to electric. A non critical electric attack is multiplied by 4 against Gyarados. Double that if it's critical.
Use thunder (120 damage * 4 = 480)
480*2 = 960.
Epic damage lol.

I think unless Game Freak cashes out on the pokemon franchise with soething MASSIVE very, very soon the fanbase are going to grow up and the idea of collecting 46 thousand pokemon will become such a deterrent from actually playing any more of the games that sales will begin to plummet.

Game Freak: Make a Pokemon MMORPG. It'll give everyone who works there an early retirement day. Promise.

Y'know, that makes me wonder why there isn't an MMO for Pokemon right now. You'd think it'd be a logical franchise choice.
