Just found an article on the web. It states that a woman "claims to be" 157 years old. The woman goes by the name of "turinah" and she lives in indonesia. Whats more amazing is that she is a smoker as well. Now any normal person that smokead for that long would surely die of lung caner and emphysema. The article also states that her step daughter is 108 years old as well. What do you think about this. And if she was able to prove she was that old, how would she do it?? BEcause if she was that old, she wouldn't have a conventional passport like the average human being would.

Heres the link:

no way, I mean she smokes. It's even hard to believe her daughter or whatever is 107?

Confused as to why people think she should have cancer. You can smoke all your life and not get cancer. It's not like it's a guarenteed thing.

Just cause you smoke doesn't mean you will get cancer or any other lung problems. One thing it doesn't say is how much she smoked or how often. If she only smoked like a few cigarettes a day rather than a pack or two, she could very well get by on that. Usually the people who develop those problems smoke a ton everyday for their whole lives, and even then they can live to be 60+ with complications. Anyways, somewhat interesting find. Kinda of coincidental she burned all her papers. Destroys any way to prove her age, although who knows if they were even issuing papers back then and if they would have kept until now. It is interesting she can recall Krakatoa, but I wouldn't call this a for sure thing. Definitely have to see more investigation before I can believe this. :P

Edit: Looking a little deeper into it, she didn't smoke tobacco cigarettes, but clove, which could most likely have been much better for her. Too bad they have no pictures of here that I can find. Those would be interesting to see.

There have been cases of people living beyond 107. The guiness world records confirm it. Im gonna try and find more on this. It would be very difficult to find people that can confirm it (obviously). But if they can run a test or something (carbon-dating perhaps), get a family tree (that could happen), family photos or something. But without living people to prove her age and the absence of critical documents, This is going to be very hard to prove.

If the U.S. can keep the original bill of rights and the constitution, There must be a way to confirm her age.

Cheers, dafin0

There's a very big difference between very important historical government documents and proof of age for someone living in Indonesia, a place where people don't have quite the same amount of access to the same sorts of things as in the US (or any other developed country for that matter).

Slice her in half and count the rings to the center. Like a tree. \:D/

Seriously though, I'm sure there's some analysis that could be done on her fat cells/organs that could give a rough indication of her age (assuming anyone cared enough to try). Even if it only provided a ballpark estimate, it would still prove she is of abnormally old age, given her insistence that she's 157.

I love how it's being discussed how we can test if shes telling the truth. Shes not. It' impossible. Nobody is going to actually waste there time trying to figure out how old she really is because a human living to 150+ is not possible at this moment in time. I'm sure one day we'll manage it but not at this moment in time.

Yea, but 157 is 50 years more than 107. That's a looooooooooong time :?

Doesn't that only work on dead stuff?

Just cause you don't hear or know of something happening doesn't mean it's not possible...just highly unlikely.

Hi, my name is MQ and I've been messing with you all this whole time.

I'm not actually 23. I'm 491 years old. Yeah, it sucks because when I go to McDonalds, they don't let me have my senior coffee.

Lol. Obviously fake, but unfortunately hard to test. It's certainly handy for her that there isn't a record of her birth or any other form of documentation to prove her age. "Clearly she's just been alive so long there was no record keeping at the time." Gee. Convenient.

You can't carbon date a living person like you would a fossil. Your body has cells that die and are recreated all time. I don't think any cell in your body at birth is there at death.

This story reminds me of the story of this guy who can allegedly go without food/water for weeks at a time. The gullibility of people drives me nuts sometimes.

There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. Haven't seen you on forums or in-game for a while. And even though i support the idea of getting her tested, I'm still highley skeptical of her age being 157. It would make her the oldest living person in the world. And how does a "157" year old have the strength to pose for a camera anyway, not to mention, the strength to smoke cigarettes.

Also,

there would be technology that would transport the coffee particles from the cup to your mouth if 491 was your age. So there would be no need for macdonalds And, we'd be able to order mcdonald's from our homes, and get it delivered (I can see this happeniing sometime in the future =P~ ). Imagine the news column title....

Cheers, dafin0
