legalization or marajuanna? thoughts?

Legalize it and tax it.

I've had lots of friends who smoke marijuana and they all share one trait: they are passionate about it. They have rituals and habits they've developed around using it and aren't interested in trying anything else.

IMO, anyone moving onto a drug like heroin after using marijuana would have done so anyway. It's more about their psychological makeup than anything else. Some people have a problem with gambling but most of us only have a passive interest in it. It's true of all forms of addiction.

There are no addictive properties in weed, the only thing making you do it is yourself. There aren't only short term effects to alcohol but long effects also (being an alcoholic, being violent, hard to get along with,depression.)

Well it is already Legalized in 13 States here in the United States for Medical Uses only of course.

Its just a matter of when or if the world will make it legal and like many people said before tax it like there's not tomorrow, but if you think about it. People also smoke weed not only because it calms you down or whatever their reason is. They smoke it because its illegal, if it becomes legal and literally ANYONE can do it. People will say oh **** this I'm gonna go to something illegal. People's think thats the cool thing to do so they'll move onto something harder.

It could go anywhere if Marijuana becomes legal, I think it will make things alot worse.

Just a notice
"Legalize" doesn't mean "make legal", it means "to make a context of laws around it", like back in the times when hard drugs made their appearance, they had to be legalized first, so if your government would say "weed has been legalized", don't go off smoking weed, it may still be illegal.
Ok, enough of this, I'm kinda against unlimited toleration of it, I mean, pot costs a lot of money, so imagine what losses it would mean for the government in terms of taxes if it would be sold like it is being now. And I mean, every thing tastes better if it's forbidden xP

Edit: weed is less addictive as alcohol, but it can drive you into schizofrenia.

it shocks me that people think it should be legalized for recreation, i mean if they tax it like there's no tomorrow then fine but will encourage more of it to be sold at a lower street price and to legalize it laws against possesion with intent to supply will need much more severe punishment if you're not licensed.. and it will encourage more people to grow it, and to smuggle it in to avoid paying tax on weed.. so it could go that way too

I'm ignorant of it. The only reason I know it to be "bad" is because I was brought up being taught that it was bad, never do it, its bad because its against the law, its bad because if you smoke 1 you will instantly die, etc.

Well, I'm still up in the air on it, but I think it should not me legalized. Here's the way I see it, though. On the one hand, a drug is a drug. When you put a drug into your body, there are good and bad things that happen. For one thing, I don't feel responsible for what other people put into their bodies. I feel that I can warn the person of what can happen to them if they do, but that choice is theirs, not mine. I can't stop someone from choosing one way or the other unless I hold a gun to their head and strip their freedoms. But if I'm not around, that choice is up the person. To me, I believe marijuana is bad and should not be legalized or decriminalized. A government should not support or gain profit off people's unhealthy choices. The greatest examples of these are tobacco and alcohol. These are generally acceptable practices to many people, but our heavily taxed and regulated by the government. I don't think it's necessarily bad to do that, but I think the government has gone over the line with it. I also think this whole argument depends on how you have grown up and what you believe. If you are like me, you think very conservatively. I tend to shun very liberal ideologies such as this. Even if marijuana was medically legal, it would still cause problems of distribution to people who are not supposed to have it. The real truth of the matter is that this issue opens a whole can of worms that people have to deal with. As I mentioned earlier, should a government profit off the choices people make, whether good or bad? Is making something legal better for the people or totally worse? Is it up to the federal government or the state and local governments? Should we just start following the wishes of the masses in order to get along? To me, the answer is simple. Don't legalize or decriminalize the stuff. Force people to get it illegal and possibly get caught trying. Make harsher punishments for possession and use. Unless it is legal, it should not be practiced at all and should be made very undesirable.

Weed should definitely be legal in all 50 states for medical use, and Legal for recreational use in MY STATE!
